Terrible Narration

The narrator paused unnaturally in the middle of sentences and mispronounced words. This ruined the story for me.

Historia
Twenty years ago, six Penn students shared a house, naively certain that their friendships would endure - until the death of their ringleader and dear friend Bea splintered the group for good. Now, mostly estranged from one another, the remaining five reluctantly gather at that same house on the eve of what would have been Bea's fortieth birthday.

Historia
Finola, a popular LA morning-show host, is famously upbeat until she’s blindsided on live TV by the news that her husband is sleeping with a young pop sensation. While avoiding the tabloids and pretending she’s just fine, she’s crumbling inside. Zennie’s breakup is no big loss. Although the world insists she pair up, she’d rather be surfing. So agreeing to be the surrogate for her best friend is a no-brainer. Ali is used to being overlooked, but when her fiancé sends his disapproving brother to call off the wedding, it’s a new low.

Once Donald Trump’s fiercest surrogate, closest confidant, and staunchest defender, Michael Cohen knows where the skeletons are buried. This is the most devastating business and political horror story of the century. As Trump’s lawyer and “fixer”, Cohen not only witnessed firsthand but was also an active participant in the inner workings of Trump’s business empire, political campaign, and presidential administration.

I swore I wouldn’t buy this book because I didn’t want Trump’s enabler to profit from his lies. I couldn’t resist in the end and I am glad I listened; it was very enlightening.

I adore Henry and his family!
Revisado: 06-13-20
I enjoyed this book very much. Henry was the most lovable character and I loved him as much as his sisters. The author provides much incite into mental health as well as special needs and she did an excellent job of demonstrating the love and support among family members. Xe Sands is one of my favorite narrators and she brought every character to life. I highly recommend this book!

Daphne hasn’t spoken one word to Drue in all this time - she doesn’t even hate-follow her ex-best friend on social media - so when Drue asks if she will be her maid-of-honor at the society wedding of the summer, Daphne is rightfully speechless.

Modern Mystery
Revisado: 06-06-20
I enjoyed this story very much, but the narration was annoying. The reader pronounced many words in an unfamiliar way.
Manhattan was read as "Manhadden", button as "budden", eaten as "eden" and so on. I found myself falling out of my imaginary world of the story and characters as many words were pronounced in this manner.

Meh!
Revisado: 10-30-18
This book was trite and predictable and the story seemed rushed. Describing Hope and True’s time apart in a very short section of the book wasn’t fair to me as a reader. Perhaps Mr. Sparks should try writing in a new genre.

Wordy and Repetitive

This book could have been several hours shorter if each scene had not been repeated in a different manner throughout the book. Cassandra Campbell is a good narrator, and the story could have been good if the author had written it in a straightforward manner.
