Confusion
Revisado: 03-15-24
Without the framework of a book many details were lost. A brief introduction of who the characters were when we first heard them would be nice. We get hints but it could be better written. Why did Christie write this story? In what context was it to be presented? Those things would help.

Historia
Miss Marple encounters a compelling murder mystery in the sleepy little village of St. Mary Mead, where under the seemingly peaceful exterior of an English country village lurks intrigue, guilt, deception and death. Colonel Protheroe, local magistrate and overbearing land-owner is the most detested man in the village. Everyone—even in the vicar—wishes he were dead. And very soon he is—shot in the head in the vicar's own study. Faced with a surfeit of suspects, only the inscrutable Miss Marple can unravel the tangled web of clues that will lead to the unmasking of the killer.

Lovely, classic Christie
Revisado: 03-13-24
A bit of confusion, because I believe Griselda is Miss Marple’s actual niece in a later book.
Not in love with the narrator, but only because I’m spoiled by Hugh Fraser and Emilia Fox as my favorite Christie voices.

Amazingly entertaining!
Revisado: 10-13-23
Bring a fan of Wil Wheaton made this an easy choice, but I had no idea what a talented audiobook reader he could be. He certainly knows how to put personality and joy, yes, joy into the words. The story is clever and I will be adding Scalzi to my authors-to-read (or at least listen to) list.
Try it, you’ll like it.

Historia
Zachary Quinto - best known for his role as the Nimoy-approved Spock in the recent Star Trek reboot and the menacing, power-stealing serial killer, Sylar, in Heroes - brings his well-earned sci-fi credentials and simmering intensity to this audio-exclusive novella from master storyteller John Scalzi. One day, not long from now, it becomes almost impossible to murder anyone - 999 times out of a thousand, anyone who is intentionally killed comes back. How? We don't know.

This is an intriguing beginning to a series (3 books as of now) which I tried mainly because of the narrator. Glad I did. It’s interesting, different and a good read. Hope there will be more than just the three there are so far.

Historia
The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore ( Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving.

Not a typical Dick Francis
Revisado: 11-14-16
The story is from 1977, but still reads well. Characters, as usual, are well written. I have seen others complain when Francis books aren't primarily about horses. Crazy people. I have learned about glass blowing, painting, photography and other really interesting things. This book is about a really interesting accountant, which may be a contradiction in terms. (FYI - I also could be called an accountant.) I can't say what the story lacked but it is not going to be a memorable Dick Francis for me.

Accent changed ...
Revisado: 10-03-16
Sometime in the last few books the narrator gave up giving Jessica any kind of Maine accent. Angela Lansbury never used much of one, but this narrator started out using one. I sort of miss it as it made the books unique to listen to.

One oops
Revisado: 10-02-16
I've been listening to quite a few of these books in a row. In a recent book Jessica called Sheriff Metzger Mortimer throughout the book. As this became a kind of 'code' in this one it is disappointing. Different real authors writing these? Or at least a copy editor who doesn't know the series.
