Amazing to read, and equally amazing to listen to!
Revisado: 07-30-17
Would you listen to High Strung again? Why?
I would! It's a wonderful story, and educational story. Not only was it a great mystery, I learned a lot about the art of making glass beads.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I don't like to pick favorites, but if I have to, I would say the story's protagonist, Jax.
Have you listened to any of Mary Ann Jacobs’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This was my first, and my second is waiting for me.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did listen to it in one sitting. It was so entertaining, I didn't even feel time passing!
Any additional comments?
Author Janice Peacock has written a book that with the narration of Mary Ann Jacobs, has translated to audio perfectly.
As entertaining in audio as it was in print, I had just as much fun listening to HIGH STRUNG as I did reading it. Narrator Jacobs brought to life the cast from this series in such a way, that along with Peacock’s written descriptions, I now feel as though I have really met these wonderful characters.
As with my printed copies, I had the audio of book two, A BEAD IN THE HAND ready to listen to at the end of HIGH STRUNG.
If you’re a fan of audio/Audible books, you have got to give HIGH STRUNG a listen.

What made the experience of listening to A Bead in the Hand the most enjoyable?
The skilled writing of author Janice Peacock, and the enjoyable narration of Mary Ann Jacobs.
What did you like best about this story?
To narrow it down to just one thing would be impossible. I loved everything about it!
Have you listened to any of Mary Ann Jacobs’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is my second, and I hope not my last.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Again, there is no way I could just pick one.
Any additional comments?
Once again the writing/narrating team of author Janice peacock, and the narrator for her audios, Mary Ann Jacobs, have brought to life the cozy side of the town (well, city) of Seattle, Washington.
When I read A BEAD IN THE HAND, Ms. Peacock brought to life her characters in a way that I felt like I was in the room them. While listening to the audio that feeling only intensified. Between the fabulous writing of author Peacock, and the pleasant voice of narrator Jacobs, I feel as though I know protagonist Jax, and her entire group of friends.
I’ve read all of the amazing books the Glass Bead Mysteries so far, and now I can’t wait to listen to all of them!

Historia
When town troublemaker, Louella Drummond, drops dead in front of Isolde Quinn's pet store just minutes after threatening both Issy and her cousin Graeme, the police in the small lakeside town of Silver Hollow assume it's from natural causes. Until it's discovered that Louella was murdered. Not just any murder, though. Murder by paranormal means. Dark magic that could only have been performed by a powerful witch.

A magically fun story!

What did you love best about A Spell of Trouble?
Let me start this review by saying, I am still listening to A SPELL OF TROUBLE as I write this. But I wanted to get it posted.
I’ve truly been enjoying listening to this para-cozy by authors Leighann Dobbs and Traci Dougless. Cozies about witches aren’t my go to books, but I will read them when written by an author I admire. And I do admire Ms. Dobbs.
A SPELL OF TROUBLE is a creatively written tale. I like the idea that Silver Hollow is a town of mostly paranormal people . . . witches mostly, along with other creatures. There are everyday humans as well who tend to turn a blind eye to what goes on around their town. I’m liking the characters very much. Issy is a great protagonist. It’s fun getting to know her. I also love the different animal familiars! They have the best personalities.
The mystery so far has been very well done. I’m now listening to chapter 17, and I still have no idea who the killer is. There is also some romance in this tale with Issy and an agent in town who is looking into the murder.
I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of A SPELL OF TROUBLE, and hearing the reveal and conclusion.
If you’re a fan of para-cozies, especially those with witches, you are going to want to read and/or listen to A SPELL OF TROUBLE for yourself! There are two more books in the series as well. SPELL DISASTER, and NOTHING TO CROAK ABOUT. These two books are not yet available through Audible, but are in print form and eBook!
Reading, A SPELL OF TROUBLE is, Amy Rubinate. This is the first audio book I have heard by her. I think she’s doing a wonderful job!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Issy. So fun!
Which scene was your favorite?
Too many!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Magically fun!
