Historia
Morgan kneels beside the fluttering crime scene tape. Their hands clasped, the couple’s embrace looks loving and warm, but an icy chill grips the air. Their lips are blue, and blood is dripping on the floor. They have been silenced forever When sweet-natured teaching assistant Rosie Waite, and her boyfriend Matt, are found dead in their quaint family home in the Lake District, Detective Morgan Brookes is horrified. Sleeping just two doors down, she heard no screams for help, no slamming doors, or alarms in the night.

The story was unique

I don’t really care for the characters. I feel like for an inspector, Morgan does not have great survival instincts.

Historia
A woman is found face-down in a pool of blood. Detective Lottie Parker is called to the remote farmhouse in the bleak Irish countryside. Inside, she finds a scene that speaks of uncontrollable rage: glasses smashed, chairs ripped apart, the woman’s body broken. A black rain jacket makes Lottie think she knows the killer’s identity, but then she finds a disturbing clue: is the murder linked to an old case at St Declan’s asylum - a case investigated by her own father, just before he took his life?

Some answers

Laced with the story at hand, we get glimpse of the dark past that ties in Lottie Parker’s family. She’s a lot more bearable this time and isn’t as aggravating. The overall story is great with lots of players involved. Keep a notebook!

Historia
The young woman standing on Lottie's step was a stranger. She was clutching the hand of a young boy. "Help me," she said to Lottie. "Please help me." One Monday morning, the body of a young pregnant woman is found. The same day, a mother and her son visit the house of Detective Lottie Parker, begging for help to find a lost friend.

Good story, but the main character is so flawed it’s distracting.

I almost didn’t finish the book because Lottie is such a mess of a person. How is she that neglectful of her family? Also how are her kids so stupid when they’re children of a detective? Their choices are so questionable it’s painful.
