Historia
Each of this book's four chapters covers one of the most important questions a person must ask themselves: What is the purpose of my life? How can I best realize the purpose of my life? Who do I want to be? How do I want other people to think of me? Rather than give you answers to these questions, this guide provides a framework that helps you develop your own answers while equipping you with the neuroscientific tools necessary to transform yourself into whomever you choose to be.

Excellent; craft a purpose for a life worth living
Revisado: 09-07-23
A spectacular book! Truly the best book for crafting and/or refining your life purpose. (Or as they call it, your Objective Function.)
I’m a very firm confessional Christian, so I’ve already thought A Lot about life purpose and goals, yet this book still managed to heavily shift my perspective to make me better at my goals!
Pro tip: they slightly revise their book every year or so, adding additional info based on reader feedback. The paper book is updated, but this audible recording is static. So you will find a few extra tidbits if you buy the paper book.

Historia
The Pragmatist’s Guide to Relationships presents a data-driven dissection of sex, dating, and marriage by taking a deep dive into academic literature and stress testing strategies advocated by “marriage gurus” and self-styled pick-up artists. Combining insights from these disparate fields, we construct novel models detailing how humans secure partners and make long-term relationships work, while exploring how these systems can be exploited to one’s advantage in a world of broken dating markets and plummeting marriage rates.

Absolutely invaluable
Revisado: 09-07-23
Do you want some kind of romantic relationship? Do you actually want to be thoughtful in how you approach relationships and not just do whatever vagueries pop culture has passed onto you? This is the book for you.
Are you a Christian looking to get married? Do you think you know how to do relationships already because you have the bible, church, and religious books? You do know how, but this book will make you better. Yes, it is written values neutral and so explains to you how to do stuff that is immoral. But ignore those parts, focus on what applies to you within the Christian framework, and you will be edified. (And I do speak as a Christian myself)
This book is marvellous, a true tour de force. Completely unsentimental and unclouded by romance, this book gives you just the facts in how to build a marriage worth a lifetime.

Historia
Humanity consists of coevolving software (our religion and culture), firmware (our hardcoded proclivities, such as language acquisition), and hardware (our brains). Ripping out a third of the equation has led to innumerous unintended—and typically negative—consequences. This book offers a guide to rebuilding or fortifying this increasingly neglected aspect of the human condition.

A work of genius
Revisado: 09-07-23
First, on the performance: Do not read this book expecting a staid professional reader. If you expect that, you will be dissatisfied. Read this like an extended, tightly scripted, podcast hosted by a mad scientist presenting his invention to the world for the first time. If you read it like that, you’ll Love this book. The passion, the enthusiasm, the unscripted asides because the author is just bursting with so many ideas: absolute gold. Far far better than a standard audiobook, so enjoyable — just be in the right frame of mind.
On the actual content: Is it all correct? No. Any groundbreaking treatise like this will inevitably have weird and parochial quirks mixed in. You do not get radical thinkers to build entire shiny new frameworks without some level of fallibility mixed in. But is it worth reading? Oh yes. What is correct far outweighs those things I might think are wrong. And if you have any pretensions to do anything at all which lasts beyond your lifetime, this book is invaluable.
