Historia
The Omehi people have been fighting an unwinnable fight for almost 200 years. The lucky ones are born gifted. One in every 2,000 women has the power to call down dragons. One in every 100 men is able to magically transform himself into a bigger, stronger, faster killing machine. Everyone else is fodder, destined to fight and die in the endless war. Young, giftless Tau knows all this, but he has a plan of escape. He's going to get himself injured, get out early, and settle down to marriage, children, and land. Only, he doesn't get the chance. Those closest to him are murdered....

I really don't know what else to say, I didn't know what to expect but this is the best book I've listened to in a very long time. Don't hesitate just buy it, listen and enjoy. Masterful storytelling and an incredible narrator, what else can you ask for?

Historia
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

A pretty good rendition

Most people who read this will be familiar with the story of Achilles and I have to say this one is fairly faithful to the lore. It touches on mythology but nothing too deep or intense if that's not your thing, my only complaint is how what seems to be the most riveting parts of the book end up feeling the most rushed.
