Historia
Anson Frericks, a former president at Anheuser-Busch—formerly the home of America’s most popular brewery—watched as the company unraveled at the hands of globe-trotting financiers and progressive middle management. Rather than pursue shareholder profits, Anheuser-Busch suddenly became focused on stakeholder capitalism and the vague mandates of environment, social, and governance (ESG). This ill-advised change cumulated in the shocking evaporation of $30 billion in market cap after releasing an advertising campaign starring political activist Dylan Mulvaney.

Very well written and logically explained by someone who was on the inside. A fast and interesting read! I’ve been baffled by corporate behavior over the last few years, and now I better understand thanks to Mr. Frericks.

Historia
A gripping, groundbreaking biography of the combative man whose genius and force of will created modern capitalism. Founder of a dynasty, builder of the original Grand Central, creator of an impossibly vast fortune, Cornelius “Commodore” Vanderbilt is an American icon. Humbly born on Staten Island during George Washington’s presidency, he rose from boatman to builder of the nation’s largest fleet of steamships to lord of a railroad empire.

Excellent and long

No doubt this is a masterpiece written by a very talented and gifted author. However, the level of supporting context was too much for me and distracting.

Could not finish

The flowery extrapolations of this flakey author combined with the bombastic performance of the reader were too much for me.

Historia
Howard Hughes lived one of the greatest, most heroic, misunderstood, mysterious, bizarre, and tragic lives in American history. In this brilliantly documented biography, the mythology that surrounded that life is disentangled from the truth.

A very complicated and astounding story masterfully presented. Would highly recommend it if you are interested in Howard Hughes.
