I know Geena Davis primarily from A League of Their Own, which I loved. I like Hollywood memoirs, and this was a pretty good one.

I love stories about women who know what they want and then GO GET IT. Nora Beady stands up to be counted and (though she has her ups and downs, as anyone would) doesn't flag in the face of the establishment that's always trying to keep her down.

This works as a standalone -- I didn't know it was a sequel until I'd already finished it and don't think my enjoyment suffered because I hadn't read the first one.

The narrator was great. I especially appreciated her accents and her pronunciations of Italian and a little French, as the first half would have been tricky to listen to if those had been poorly done. A genuinely enjoyable listen.

I wish he had told his story in order. As it was, it felt disjointed and difficult to follow.

Stories of human suffering are so difficult to read but are also, in my opinion, important. This novel was just as good as the one that preceded it (The Tattooist of Auschwitz).

Although the target audience is middle grade kids, I couldn't put it down. The characters were brightly imagined, the story was compelling, and the narration was dynamic. What more could you ask for?

I honestly didn't expect much from this -- it looked like a YA sci-fi romance, which doesn't excite me. However, looks can be deceiving. This took me by surprise in all the very best ways. It was twisty and very enjoyable.

I was incredibly impressed with this narrator -- the accents alone! She really developed distinctive voices for the characters in a way that made the dialogue scenes come to life.

The story was OK but disappointing in some ways. It took an excellent story about a woman spy's daring adventure and wrapped it up in a love-triangle romance novel. I wish she'd just written the spy part and left the romance out.

This was a very satisfying and enjoyable story. I loved the way it was divided among narrators, never giving us a full glimpse of what was unfolding. I thought I had the ending figured out, but I was wrong!

It got off to a bit of a slow start, but that part of Hannah's story was needed for context. It's refreshing to have a memoir where the writer openly tells you that they're not telling you the whole story, that they do not owe you the parts of the story they do not want to tell. In this age of social media, many of us seem to have forgotten that we do not have the right to other people's stories if they do not want to share them.

I enjoyed this. My only real criticism stems from the choice of narrator -- he was good, but the story was primarily about a woman, so I found the male narrator to be a weird choice. I usually find Connelly's novels to be a bit predictable, but the twisted perspectives here made for a very interesting and twisty read.
