Historia
For generations, everything has been getting faster, better, and cheaper. Finally, we reached the point that almost anything you could ever want could be sent to your home within days - even hours - of when you decided you wanted it. America made that happen, but now America has lost interest in keeping it going.

Historia
For the better part of a century, the left has been waging a slow, methodical battle for control of the institutions of Western civilization. This book provides a comprehensive overview of the problem and the players involved, both on the aggressive, hard-charging left and in the nascent conservative resistance. Soukup explains what the left is doing and how and why the right must be prepared and willing to fight back to save this critical aspect of American culture from becoming another, more economically powerful version of the “woke” college campus.

Only left of center CEOs attempt to influence politics ??
Revisado: 07-03-21
The right wing , Republicans, or what ever the nom de jour is , has always been predominant in American Business since the countries inception. The thesis of this book violates the “Sacred “ Milton Friedman rule that businesses should be able to do anything they need/want in the name of making money, including giving customers cancer. However quoting a nazi at the end was not lost on me.

In his most provocative and practical book yet, one of the foremost thinkers of our time redefines what it means to understand the world, succeed in a profession, contribute to a fair and just society, detect nonsense, and influence others. Citing examples ranging from Hammurabi to Seneca, Antaeus the Giant to Donald Trump, Nassim Nicholas Taleb shows how the willingness to accept one's own risks is an essential attribute of heroes, saints, and flourishing people in all walks of life.

Could have left the heavy sarcasm out.
Revisado: 05-25-18
He violates his own tenets he preaches by attacking Pinker,Thayler...etc. But I do like most of his views , even though he treaded very lightly (almost timidly) around the Trump phenomena. Over all I have loved all of his books and will buy his next one . I wonder what he thinks about Daniel Khaneman ?

Very sterile view of a naturally exciting topic
Revisado: 01-09-18
The narrators delivery was dull and tepid. The authors method of presenting the actual conversations was uninspired and lacking effort. This book could have been great considering the subject. I liked a few of the selections of artists but I couldn’t feel any creativity from the descriptions of their music production process. I bought this in the airport in an attempt to get away from the science, political and historical books I usually read and I’m sadly disappointed .

Historia
From the celebrated neurobiologist and primatologist, a landmark, genre-defining examination of human behavior, both good and bad, and an answer to the question: Why do we do the things we do? Sapolsky's storytelling concept is delightful but it also has a powerful intrinsic logic: He starts by looking at the factors that bear on a person's reaction in the precise moment a behavior occurs, and then hops back in time from there, in stages, ultimately ending up at the deep history of our species and its evolutionary legacy.

Sapolsky basically synergies Kahnamen, Daniel Dennet and Pinker . A truly amazing book! The discussion on free will alone makes this book a must read.

As Ferguson, Missouri, erupted in August 2014 and media commentators across the ideological spectrum referred to the angry response of African Americans as 'Black rage', historian Carol Anderson wrote a remarkable op-ed in the Washington Post showing that this was, instead, 'white rage at work. With so much attention on the flames,' she wrote, 'everyone had ignored the kindling.'

Revisado: 11-10-16
I am black and I knew nothing about the exploits of Andrew Johnson , the black codes , CCA and many of the historical facts about how the American government was responsible for crafting racism and the denigration of blacks. I think we need to explore why are whites so afraid of blacks being able to live normal lives just like them.

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

Historia
Superintelligence asks the questions: What happens when machines surpass humans in general intelligence? Will artificial agents save or destroy us? Nick Bostrom lays the foundation for understanding the future of humanity and intelligent life. The human brain has some capabilities that the brains of other animals lack. It is to these distinctive capabilities that our species owes its dominant position. If machine brains surpassed human brains in general intelligence, then this new superintelligence could become extremely powerful - possibly beyond our control.

Great thesis but....
Revisado: 11-12-15
I enjoyed the thesis of his book which was how a super intelligence could rapidly do things that we might not have intended or expected the super intelligent to do, and how those things might be harmful to us . However aside from that , the rest of the book was essentially conjecture based on conjecture , based on conjecture. I would imagine that sometime in the future this book could be heralded as the first book to address this topic... In this this much excruciating detail.
