Historia
Quentin Coldwater is brilliant but miserable. A senior in high school, he's still secretly preoccupied with a series of fantasy novels he read as a child, set in a magical land called Fillory. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself unexpectedly admitted to a very secret, very exclusive college of magic in upstate New York, where he receives a thorough and rigorous education in the craft of modern sorcery.

Very disappointed
Revisado: 01-03-16
I had high expectations and that might be why I'm disappointed. The story line was very weak, the characters were incredibly hard to care about one way or another, and I invested so much time that I couldn't give up on it. Just kept getting more and more disappointed that it started to edge up to anger.
There are conflicts that are forced, the relationships had aspects that added little value or were never really developed, and you just can't get behind any of the characters and cheer for their eventual victory. Seems almost like the book was targeted to angry teens and because of that the author added content that he thought would appeal to that audience, but all it really did was detract from the story line.

Historia
The folks in Mike Erikson's small New England town would say he's just your average, everyday guy. And that's exactly how Mike likes it. Sure, the life he's chosen isn't much of a challenge to someone with his unique gifts, but he's content with his quiet and peaceful existence. That is, until an old friend presents him with an irresistible mystery, one that Mike is uniquely qualified to solve.

Good narration, ok story
Revisado: 12-25-15
I enjoyed it over all. That said, there were so many instances of obvious foreshadowing that the characters who where supposedly geniuses missed, that it kept pulling me out of the story wondering why they were so oblivious.

Historia
"You have to kill him." Imprisoned in the heart of a secret military base, Em has nothing except the voice of the boy in the cell next door and the list of instructions she finds taped inside the drain. Only Em can complete the final instruction. She's tried everything to prevent the creation of a time machine that will tear the world apart. She holds the proof: a list she has never seen before, written in her own hand. Each failed attempt in the past has led her to the same terrible present - imprisoned and tortured by a sadistic man called "the doctor" while war rages outside.

So So
Revisado: 04-23-15
Not a bad story, but it seemed to drag. The reader wasn't able to separate the characters enough and I never felt pulled into the action. More of a teenage love story with a Scifi twist than the other way around.

Short listen with fundamental leadership lessons
Revisado: 06-12-12
What other book might you compare It's Your Ship to and why?
I would say that this book and the 21 irrefutable laws of leadership are similar in topic and tone. Not a lot of information around how to implement the ideas, but a high level review of the concepts. That said, the concepts are solid and good for any new leader to absorb.
Any additional comments?
Great book and will be recommended to many new leaders. It's length and simplicity will act as a good starter for conversations around growth into a leadership role for an Associate that hasn't had much experience leading a team.
