This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Maybe somebody likes wallowing in negativity The main character whines constantly, and so do most of his characters. "Poor Me, I've been so mistreated and for that reason the rest of world owes me." Like a 10 year old boy trying to manipulate his parents by saying "It isn't fair."

Would you ever listen to anything by Greg Iles again?

You must be joking.

What about Scott Brick’s performance did you like?

Scott Brick's performance was superb as always, no matter what kind of garbage material he has to deal with.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Mississippi Blood?

All of it

What did you love best about Assassin?

The descriptions of the scenery and the people. You felt you were there

What other book might you compare Assassin to and why?

Don't know

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I was surprised that so many people praised the narrator. To me, he spoiled the story completely. The descriptions were really great and set the scene beautifully, but I never had time to visualize them because he was off and running and on a different subject before I had a chance to figure out what just happened. He hardly even paused between sentences. He talked like he was double parked outside and had to hurry up and get this done before he got a ticket. What was the big rush?
It spoiled the dramatic effect for me.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Not so far, I haven't finished the book.

Any additional comments?

The writing is a little predictable, a series of unrelated tragedies and then the Caped Crusader will land and sort everything out.

Charming Little Tales, What I Could Hear of Them

Total
3 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 01-10-11

Charming little stories, what I could hear of them. The background music was so loud and overpowering I had trouble hearing what Ms. Parsons was saying and distinguishing her words. It would have been a delightful little piece except that I was exhausted from straining to hear her voice and trying to understand her words over the background noise. Also, the "typical Gemini heroes" she chose would not have been my choices. Bob Dylan? No way. Jamie Oliver? Well I liked his cooking show, but I would hardly pick him as a typical Gemini. Maybe that is just the difference between American and British tastes.

Good content, but spoiled by the narrator

Total
3 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 03-20-04

The content of this book was excellent, and the short, thumbnail sketches could have made it a 5-star book. Unfortunately, the narrator completely spoiled it for me. She has an unpleasant, grating voice. She apparently hates warriors and strong men and never misses a chance to make a sarcastic remark or a Sunday school teacher-like morality lesson about a subject she doesn't happen to like. I prefer more facts and less moralizing. I'm an adult and capable of making my own moral judgments.
