Historia
Zacharias is his maternal grandfather’s namesake, though he has never met said grandfather or any other extended family members. He represses questions he has as a way of trying to protect himself and his mother, Dorothée, who is prone to bouts of depression. But he cannot ignore his reality forever and in adolescence, Zacharias begins to commit small acts of rebellion leading to a final act that goes horribly wrong and leads him to exile and a new life where he promises himself never to look back.

Delicate and heartbreaking

I want to read more by this author. The understated narration was the perfect way to tell the story. You could hear the little boy’s hesitation and confusion as he tries to piece together why he and his mother are different from other people he knows.

Historia
“The Heron” is the nickname a big-city accountant has attached to himself in his new home near San Diego, where he’s using the alias to avoid a hit man who may be after him. It seems a former client believes that The Heron has skipped town with several million dollars not his own. Don Winslow’s ensuing, entertaining yarn is by turns twisty, dark, and comical as we observe the delicate dance between the pursuer and the pursued.

I especially enjoyed the ending. Ed Harris, with his gravelly voice, is the perfect narrator for this story. He brings out the author’s understated humor.

Historia
Golden Globe-winning actor Michael C. Hall (Six Feet Under) performs Truman Capote's masterstroke about a young writer's charmed fascination with his unorthodox neighbor, the "American geisha" Holly Golightly. Holly - a World War II-era society girl in her late teens - survives via socialization, attending parties and restaurants with men from the wealthy upper class who also provide her with money and expensive gifts. Over the course of the novella, the seemingly shallow Holly slowly opens up to the curious protagonist.

I have to rewatch the movie now. I only wish they hadn’t turned the Japanese photographer into a racist joke but I’ll fast forward through those scenes to see how the film compares to the original story by Truman Capote.

I wish books 10-15 were bundled in sets of three like the first nine. I want to continue following the story so I’ll be buying extra audible credits to continue bingeing on the series.

This isn’t just a collection of cozy mysteries, it also explores how people heal from grief. I listened to it twice — once having fun with the mysteries and the second time focusing on the characters and their journeys.

Well written and well acted. I’m not used to this level of violence so I had to take breaks between chapters. I’m glad I listened to The Method but i think I’ll go back to my usual cozy mysteries.

If only Alan Rickman could have narrated
Revisado: 10-23-22
It took me awhile to appreciate Mr Rickman’s sparse, name-dropping diary entries but when I finished, I listened again from beginning to end and got much more out of his life story. A complex person who lived a full life - arrogant and vulnerable, demanding and generous, as hardworking as he was talented, and obviously loved by many friends. You can hear Rickman’s own deep, hypnotic voice with its unpredictable phrasing for a few minutes at the end of the audiobook. You might want to listen to it first.

David Horovitch brings the story to life as I’ve never heard it before. I first read Ana Karenina in my twenties. Now, at age 67, I have read this book three times and listened to three audio versions. I can’t imagine a better narration. Bravo.

Historia
Lee Strobel became convinced that God was outmoded. Today science is supports the conclusion that the universe was intelligently designed. Darwinism has faltered in the face of facts and hard reason. Science definitely gives faith a boost as new findings emerge about the complexity of our universe. Strobel re-examines the theories that once led him away from God. You'll encounter discoveries from cosmology, DNA research, and human consciousness that present evidence in The Case for a Creator.

A good case for agnosticism
Revisado: 09-25-22
This book provides no convincing evidence that God the creator exists or ever did exist. The writer’s arguments basically come down to you either have faith or you don’t. I was hoping to be logically convinced there is a God. Instead this book helped me understand that there is no rational case for a creator, at least not in the terms this author used. By the time I finished listening, I felt comfortable in my doubts about god and free from trying to make sense of religion. This result is almost certainly not what the author intended, nor what most readers will be looking for. No doubt the author is sincere in his beliefs, and the writing style is fine, but his rationale is not logical or convincing. I have no ill feelings about the author or anyone who has faith in religion, I simply don’t agree and this book helped me feel better about that. The narration was fine, not bad but not outstanding, so I am giving that aspect of the audio book a middle rating.
