The final scene
Revisado: 04-19-25
The beginning had my FULL attention it was fast-paced, tense, and super engaging. The middle didn’t drag, but it was just okay. I did want to keep reading/listening to see who if anyone would make it to the end. I wished the final scene was a little more satisfying. I’m still not sure why Grace did what she did, or why we were reliving her life in the first place. didn’t understand the romance scene it definitely wasn’t needed. The ending felt rushed and left me wanting to know more. Still a good thriller, with a great start. Just not as satisfying as I anticipated.

10/10!!!
Revisado: 04-18-25
Ms. Tracey Deonn, you really put your foot in this one! 10/10, five stars, I wouldn’t change a thing. I loved this even more than the first. I read along with the audiobook and the narrator Joniece Abbot-Pratt had me hooked. The action! The drama! My girl Bree!!!Absolutely AMAZING! The characters, the world building, I needed more the moment I finished! Can’t wait to get into Oathbound!

Historia
God is change. That is the central truth of the Earthseed movement, whose unlikely prophet is 18-year-old Lauren Olamina. The young woman's diary entries tell the story of her life amid a violent 21st-century hell of walled neighborhoods and drug-crazed pyromaniacs - and reveal her evolving Earthseed philosophy. Against a backdrop of horror emerges a message of hope: if we are willing to embrace divine change, we will survive to fulfill our destiny among the stars.

Worth the read!
Revisado: 04-12-25
This book felt too real. It’s heavy, honest, and full of heart. The world is falling apart, danger is everywhere: the drug epidemic, homelessness, climate change, and the LA fires. And yet, we watch this young woman, Lauren, build hope in the middle of it all. Her journey made me feel everything. It’s disturbing, intense, and way too close to reality. Not an easy read, but definitely an important one.

Wanted more answers
Revisado: 04-06-25
I opted to listen to the audiobook while reading along to We Used to Live Here. This left me with so many unanswered questions. I didn’t hate the book, it definitely kept me listening and turning the pages. It also left me wanting to know what happened next. But at the end I was still confused. I wanted more clarity, more answers. But it still had me hooked the whole way through.
