Historia
Before the ink was dry on the U.S. Constitution, the establishment of a permanent military had become the most divisive issue facing the new government. Would a standing army be the thin end of dictatorship? Would a navy protect American commerce against the Mediterranean pirates, or drain the treasury and provoke hostilities with the great powers? The founders, particularly Jefferson, Madison, and Adams, debated these questions fiercely and switched sides more than once.

This is a great look into the history of the US Navy up through the war of 1812. My only complaint is an occasional mispronunciation of nautical terms.

Historia
The Two Towers is the second volume of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic saga, The Lord of the Rings. The Fellowship has been forced to split up. Frodo and Sam must continue alone towards Mount Doom, where the One Ring must be destroyed. Meanwhile, at Helm’s Deep and Isengard, the first great battles of the War of the Ring take shape. In this splendid, unabridged audio production of Tolkien’s great work, all the inhabitants of a magical universe - hobbits, elves, and wizards - spring to life. Rob Inglis’ narration has been praised as a masterpiece of audio.

Audio Glitch
Revisado: 10-27-21
Great piece of work, but in the first book, chapter 7 at the 8-minute mark a low background hum starts that is rather annoying when using headphones.

Cent has a secret. She lives in isolation, with her parents, hiding from the people who took her father captive and tortured him to gain control over his ability to teleport, and from the government agencies who want to use his talent. Cent has seen the world, but only from the safety of her parents' arms. She's teleported more than anyone on Earth, except for her mother and father, but she's never been able to do it herself. Her life has never been in danger. Until the day when she went snowboarding without permission and triggered an avalanche. When the snow and ice thundered down on her, she suddenly found herself in her own bedroom.

Worth the read.
Revisado: 04-23-21
While I do enjoy this series, the books so far do seem to follow a predictable pattern of someone learning how to jump. My only real issue is with the narrator, not the author. I wish she had spent a little time learning how to pronounce aerie, gunwale, or even ethernet! It really makes a story less enjoyable when words aren't pronounced correctly.

Historia
Few books have captivated the imagination and won the devotion and praise of readers and critics everywhere as has George R. R. Martin’s monumental epic cycle of high fantasy that began with A Game of Thrones. Now, in A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth book of his landmark series, as a kingdom torn asunder finds itself at last on the brink of peace . . . only to be launched on an even more terrifying course of destruction.

Worst of the series.
Revisado: 10-29-20
As for the narrator: It is irksome when the narrator changes pronunciation of familiar names and places after three books.
As for the author: This book fails to continue most of the story lines started and left open in previous books. It has no discernable protagonist, just a bunch of antagonists antagonizing each other, plus a few side character stories. I had heard that the show did the books an injustice, but this book is only 1/4 of the overall story arch.

We often treat the word capacity as if it were a natural law of limitation. Unfortunately most of us are much more comfortable defining what we perceive as off limits rather than what's really possible. Could it be that many of us have failed to expand our potential because we have allowed what we perceive as capacity to define us? What if our limits are not really our limits?

Much better
Revisado: 08-16-19
Christian Rodska is leaps and bounds better than that other narrator, and C.S. Forester's earlier works are much more robust than his prequels. I decided to read in chronological order instead of publication order and I'm doubting if I made the right choice.

Waste
Revisado: 10-04-18
The sex scenes we're good, but despite the adult nature of this book it appears to be written at a middle school reading level. The narrator had a hard task with this handicap, however she can't portray any of the male characters with any semblance of belief. I tried, but I couldn't make it much past the halfway point. I will be requesting a refund.
