Historia
The year is 1896, and college professor Concordia Wells has her hands full: teaching classes, acting as live-in chaperone to a cottage of lively female students, and directing the student play, Macbeth. But mystery and murder are not confined to the stage, especially when the death of Concordia's sister, Mary, appears to be foul play. To make matters worse, the women's college is plagued by malicious pranks, arson, money troubles, and the apparent suicide of a college official.

Well written and narrated story set in 1890s
Revisado: 05-18-16
Concordia Wells is a professor at an all-girls college that has experienced financial issues as well as personnel changes. As the term progresses from January to May, the repercussions of those issues. Set against the background of the school's production of MacBeth, the story is well constructed and strongly narrated. Each character has his or her own voice and the characters feels come through in the storytelling. Having become interested in the future of Concordia, I'll be spending a credit on the next book in the series.

Delightful story with an unusual premise
Revisado: 05-08-16
Angela Dawe's reading brings this book to life. Hilary Manningham-Butler lives her life as a man, working as an undercover agent. Hilary and her manservant investigate the possible theft of state secrets while traveling on a zeppelin between Spain and South America. The plot is a good balance between comic fun and well-plotted intrigue.

Having said that, I liked the book enough to purchase the first book in the series and am hoping for a third book.

Excellent reader and plot

The characters and plot of this book are delightful. Funny, engaging with a well-crafted plot. The main character is a former child star who decides to get a 'real job' as an apprentice PI. Unlike many female characters in cozy mysteries, Sofia isn't an airhead nor dependent on the men in her life.
The narrator does an excellent job with both the pacing of the story and character definition.
Anyone who enjoys a well-plotted story with a good dose of laughter will enjoy this book. I, for one, am looking forward to getting the second book in the series.

Simplistic
Revisado: 01-04-14
What disappointed you about What a Ghoul Wants?
The book seemed to be written for YA but isn't advertised as such. The characters came across as flakes.
Has What a Ghoul Wants turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Eileen Stevens?
Not sure - can't decide if the narrator was the issue or the dialogue.
Any additional comments?
If this had been described at a YA book, it would have been pretty good. But as a book for adults, I expected the dialogue to be better.
