Historia
In the untamed heart of the Yukon wilderness, where icy winds howl and survival is both a brutal contest and a triumph of spirit, one dog's journey will awaken the primal instincts that lie buried beneath domesticated civility. Jack London's The Call of the Wild is not merely a tale of survival—it is an anthem to the wild, a hymn to the power of instinct, and a meditation on freedom itself. Every crack of a whip, every crunch of snow under a sled, and every flash of gold in the frozen rivers echoes a deeper truth: we are creatures of nature, and nature always calls us home.

Odd to have this narrated by a woman with a British accent who can’t pronounce Yukon.

Historia
What does it mean to stand alone against the tide of conformity? Henry David Thoreau's On the Duty of Civil Disobedience is a rallying cry for the individual conscience in a world that often demands silent compliance. Written in 1849, this powerful essay transcends its time, offering an enduring blueprint for resisting injustice through peaceful defiance. Thoreau's words are both a philosophical meditation and a practical guide. With piercing clarity and quiet rebellion, he challenges the reader to examine their relationship with authority.

I couldn’t stand to listen to this! Usually Audible has excellent narrators. This one was so bad (stilted, monotone, emphasis in weird places, mispronounced words) that I had to turn it off after 5 minutes. Too bad since I really wanted to listen to this famous book.

Historia
Twenty-five years after the end of the war, Noah Ainsworth is still preoccupied with those perilous, exhilarating years as a British SOE operative in France. A head injury sustained on his final operation has caused frustrating gaps in his memory—in particular about the agent who saved his life during that mission gone wrong, whose real name he never knew, nor whether she even survived the war.

Cheese puffs. Coffee. Sunscreen. Vapes. George Zaidan reveals what will kill you, what won’t, and why - explained with high-octane hilarity, hysterical hijinks, and other things that don’t begin with the letter H. Ingredients offers the perspective of a chemist on the stuff we eat, drink, inhale, and smear on ourselves. Apart from the burning question of whether you should eat that Cheeto, Zaidan explores a range of topics.

Great voice of author! Sheds light on how one should always be skeptical of conclusions of studies and try to pay attention to the details (note: I’m an engineer and this book confirms my opinion that the devil is in the details).

Historia
As children, Sam and Elli were two halves of a perfect whole: gorgeous identical twins whose parents sometimes couldn’t even tell them apart. They fell asleep to the sound of each other’s breath at night, holding hands in the dark. And once Hollywood discovered them, they became B-list child TV stars, often inhabiting the same role. But as adults, their lives have splintered. After leaving acting, Elli reinvented herself as the perfect homemaker: married to a real estate lawyer, living in a house just blocks from the beach.
