Historia
Thankfully, the spirit who reincarnated me modified my core with a rune of power. Now, each time I ascend to a higher level, I can add a new rune, enhancing my strength. But this gift was given with a condition; if I don’t climb and conquer the Towers of Acalia, this new world will fall into ruin. Plenty of obstacles stand in my way: raging spirit beasts, tower summoned monsters, rival cultivators. But by bonding myself to gorgeous women warriors, I can ascend and grow strong enough to take on the seven towers. Gods help anyone who stands in my way.

Pleasant and good mix of action, fantasy and romance
Revisado: 01-11-24
It’s no Wheel of Time, but it was enjoyable and worth the listen. I’ll be reading the next book.

Historia
The Catenan Republic—the Hierarchy—may rule the world now, but they do not know everything. I tell them my name is Vis Telimus. I tell them I was orphaned after a tragic accident three years ago, and that good fortune alone has led to my acceptance into their most prestigious school. I tell them that once I graduate, I will gladly join the rest of civilized society in allowing my strength, my drive, and my focus—what they call Will—to be leeched away and added to the power of those above me, as millions already do. As all must eventually do.

Amazing book that was a total surprise. I’ve started so many fantasy books that I hated immediately. This one hit all the right notes.

Jason arrives at a kingdom in peril and he's surprised to discover that it's not his job to save it. With the authorities fulfilling their responsibilities (for once), he looks forward to some quiet time to rest and recuperate. The locals might not find ceaseless monster onslaughts and an interdimensional invasion relaxing, but Jason has had a rough few years. He's doing his best to let go of his anger. While his team is caught up in duty, Jason has no shortage of people looking to interfere with his rest. Enemies—old and new—are circling, and even would-be allies are trouble.

The calm before the storm part 2
Revisado: 01-24-23
Like the last book, I feel like this is a ramp up to the third story arc. Jason is not dealing well with who he has become. This book didn’t have as many fun moments as some of the others but was still a solid addition to the franchise, pushing happily to the next book.

Not the best but enough to keep me going
Revisado: 01-09-23
This was probably my least favorite so far. A lot of the emotional moments fell a little flat and I’m starting to get sick of the internal battles Jason is always going through. This book was still great, just not the best in the series up to this point. Nothing that would keep me from moving forward.

A great right turn for the series
Revisado: 01-04-23
Before I get to the negatives people are talking about, let me say that this was another spectacular book in the series. It offered a great diversion from the last 3 books, giving readers something new to digest. While not my favorite in the series, it’s a solid 9/10. This story is making a huge transition and things stay fresh throughout. Definitely worth the read.
Next, I see a lot of people reviewing this book based on the negative caricature of Americans and Jason’s slight pension towards virtue signaling. If it was an American author doing the same to another culture or country, yes, everyone would say the author was racist. But at the end of the day, it’s not a major theme of the book and it’s really not surprising given Jason’s character. Get over it people. It really wasn’t that bad and it’s not a good look. Don’t become the snowflakes you show disdain for by getting your feelings hurt over something small and then trying to sully the someone’s reputation over it. Move on, it’s an amazing book.

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Unexpectedly amazing!
Revisado: 12-05-22
I wasn’t expecting much from this book. It’s not something I ever saw on “top fantasy book” blog posts and I’ve never seen before. I’m an avid fantasy novel but that’s gone through everything from the Wheel of Time to the Stormlight Archives. I’m always looking for a new great series and I’m so glad I stumbled on this. As an added bonus it uses RPG and isekai elements, which make it really fun for a video game and anime fan. Great character and great story telling. Time for the next one!

Change for the worse
Revisado: 05-16-20
I loved the original 3 books. This first book in the second series left me wanting. They spent a lot of time developing characters that I only found myself barely caring about by the end of the books. The author spent way too much time going in too many directions. Not sure if I want to continue.

Great book with a unsatisfying ending
Revisado: 02-27-20
The final book was great but lacked a satisfying ending. I always feel like I’m losing friends when I finish a series but authors usually offer readers some closure. This author instead gives a “realistic” ending. Not everyone gets a happy ending and sometimes it’s the villain who gets to live happily ever after. It’s whatever.
