Historia
When planes crash, bridges collapse, and automobile gas tanks explode, we are quick to blame poor design. But Henry Petroski says we must look beyond design for causes and corrections. Known for his masterly explanations of engineering successes and failures, Petroski here takes his analysis a step further, to consider the larger context in which accidents occur. In To Forgive Design he surveys some of the most infamous failures of our time.

An excellent read for anyone doing design
Revisado: 01-11-15
What did you love best about To Forgive Design?
Petroski's insight into the important role of inevitable failures is a reminder of just how much we take for granted. The point that experienced and new engineers (and all designers) can get out of this book is that failed designs can teach us where we misunderstood.

A fun listen but a little soft on the ending
Revisado: 01-11-15
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
A bit disappointed in the ending. It was self-consistent, but a little too simplistic, especially when compared to Dave Duncan's later novels. Still worth listening because it rounds up one of his most entertaining story arcs.

Historia
Thirty-five years ago, Mario Puzo's great American tale, The Godfather, was published, and popular culture was indelibly changed. Now, in The Godfather Returns, acclaimed novelist Mark Winegardner continues the story, the years not covered in Puzo's best-selling book or in Francis Ford Coppola's classic films.

Like the Original
Revisado: 12-17-05
It may not be Puzo, but the rhythm and style of the storytelling sure is similar. The plot has all the depth of the original 'Godfather' and covers all the events that the first books stayed away from.
