Didn’t miss anything
Revisado: 01-07-23
Hated Shakespeare since middle school because of the king James era language, but always thought I was missing out on knowing the stories. Good to know that I did not miss anything important

Historia
In The WEIRDest People in the World, Joseph Henrich draws on cutting-edge research in anthropology, psychology, economics, and evolutionary biology to explore these questions and more. He illuminates the origins and evolution of family structures, marriage, and religion, and the profound impact these cultural transformations had on human psychology. Mapping these shifts through ancient history and late antiquity, Henrich reveals that the most fundamental institutions of kinship and marriage changed dramatically under pressure from the Roman Catholic Church.

Too tedious
Revisado: 02-26-21
I really wanted to like this book and hung in for several chapters but found the analyses excessively tedious for an audible book. Do not listen while driving as it is sedating.

Funny sad heartfelt and incredibly personal
Revisado: 02-07-17
Thoroughly immersed in mr Noah 's account of his childhood and the way he weaves it into South African history and culture. The way he recalls details from his past is quite amazing

Historia
The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald's portrait of the Jazz Age in all its decadence and excess, is, as editor Maxwell Perkins praised it in 1924, "a wonder". It remains one of the most widely read, translated, admired, imitated, and studied 20th-century works of American fiction.

truly a classic and better the 2nd time around
Revisado: 11-06-12
What made the experience of listening to The Great Gatsby the most enjoyable?
The very fact that I could listen to the book at my leisure, stop the recording when I choose, and reflect on the multiple meanings was the most valuable and enjoyable part.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Gatsby himself, much more of a complicated character than I recalled from the first time I read the book.
What does Tim Robbins bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
What every great reader does which is to convey the emotion behind the words
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
both
