Traumatizing Experience Reading This

This is not a book for the faint hearted. The story is dark which I can handle but the torture scenes mixed with spicy moments with the characters was too much for me. I actually got nauseated. The female narrator wasn't bad, she has a nice voice and was mostly believable but the male narrator was just too much. His voice for 3 of the 4 male characters wasn't too bad but for Diesel it felt like nails on a chalkboard. Just too loud, too much growling and not believable. I actually went and read the rest of the book instead because his voice bothered me so much. I'm sure he's a great narrator but for this particular character I could not get into it.

Great Way to Learn Conversational Dutch

My mother is a native Dutch speaker so I have been exposed to the language my whole life but only could say simple phrases. I've been studying the language through DuoLingo and Babbel but I felt like I needed another way to learn. I found this audible book and chose this one based on my experience. I felt like this was the perfect level to start as I already know so many words but would get confused when trying to put them into sentences. This really helped me with word order and proper ways to address people in real life. I listened to this while I was working on a puzzle and it was a perfect way to pass a few hours. I practiced the words and phrases aloud with the narrators.

Poor Narration and Slow Plot

I'm basing this mostly off of the narration but this story was very hard to sit and listen to. I ended up returning about 1/3 of the way through the book. The narration lacked emotion and the plot was very slow. I might give it another try by reading it myself since I really wanted to like this book.
