great remaining of a classic story

I really enjoyed so much of this story, but the "woe is me I'm useless" attitude of Katrina got really hard to endure after about a third of the book. with the exception of the worthless self view if her though, it was a fantastic story and great concept. I might just be hyper critical, but I'm tired of the "hero has no self worth" trope. it didn't really add to the story, which was fantastic.

I loved this story so much. it kept me engaged without any eye rolling (which can happen with so many pieces moving around). the world building was fantastic and I want to know so much more. when the book ended I was left eager for more. the narration was excellent - Gary Furlong is a favorite, so I'm not at all surprised he nailed it again. I cannot wait for more in this world.

delightful story

this was a delightful story on its own, but I greatly enjoyed the continuation of the characters from book 1. there was mystery, action, hope, and a hint of romance (but not much more than a hint). narration was perfection.

I cried, I laughed, I wanted only the best for all these characters. what a journey this story takes one on. be prepared to feel all the emotions.

good opening to a promising series

This book is the opening to a new series with so many intriguing characters. I found the characters mostly likable (you're not supposed to like them all) and am looking forward to more of this series. the narrator was decent, each character has a distinct sound. overall an enjoyable audiobook with loads of future potential.

a sweet Christmas story

this was my first foray into the Men of Ft Dale but I don't feel like I was missing out with this story. there were mentions of characters in sure were featured in the series before, but Matt and Nick took center of the story beautifully and I was invested without any backstory. This was a very sweet, happy Christmas story that is the audio version of hot chocolate. I really enjoyed this and could have hung out with the guys and Nick's family for hours.

a wonderful second installment

Gah! Book 2 of this series sees Fletcher and Jackson facing dangers, family, and each other. It's every single thing you want in a book 2. Book 1 was a slow burn, Book 2 was on fire! Fletcher and Jackson are trying to stay off the radar, hiding at Fletcher's family farm. Jackson is trying to remember the night his life came crashing down. But the danger follows them, and there's new drama for Fletcher to face with his pasy too. The plot kept me rapt, my heart would race right along with Fletcher and Jackson as they dig deeper into the mystery and their relationship. The action (and the *action*) was fantastic. I cannot wait for book 3.

good start to a mystery series

I received a copy of this audiobook for review and I'm so glad! I'll admit the introduction to the story and the characters starts off a bit slow. Jackson is a mystery, and even we, the audience, don't know what his past holds. as the story continues, we begin to see the man emerge right along with Fletcher. Fletcher is a likeable character who takes more time to understand Jackson's life and choices than he does his own. I often wanted to shake Jackson for his own good, then hug him. Together Fletcher and Jackson start to pull the threads of a big story - a story bigger than them that they have both been part of for a long time. this book does end in a cliffhanger of sorts. Nothing is concluded and I was left immediately looking for Book 2 to keep following this story unfolding around the two.
