Historia
Out of the blue, a young Space Fleet officer's dream becomes reality: He's made captain of a starship. Just in time for the return of humanity's most terrible enemy, after 50 years of peace. To survive against this enemy, Captain Tad Thatcher will have to do more than learn how to become an effective commander, or how to wrangle his wayward crew. He will need to reinvent space combat. From scratch.

Derivative / Very Bad Conclusion
Revisado: 04-13-25
The story is quite derivative. Mankind goes into space, encounters aliens, big battles. Scott could get a 3 to 4 star rating out of me if it was done right. I mean, that's what we like or we wouldn't be here, right? There were early indicators that this was going to be a Deus Ex Machina, TIME jumping paradox - which is the worst kind of derivative. But, hey, I bought it so I kept going. The characters continued to be fairly two dimensional. Interactions were shallow, character growth is non-existent. The science was weak. Someone break out a general thrust and distance over time equation. Nothing fancy in his writing except the magic inertial dampeners. About mid way through, the author started introducing religious indicators that wee peppered through the last half. I can deal with that. But the final scenes were a time travel reveal where the author's point seems to be that man is fundamentally and irredeemably flawed. As it turns out, the main charater was, through no fault of his own, the source of the main storyline conflict. There's nothing he could have done about it. The worst of it is, I suspect from how the story develops, that this outcome is a nod to the concept of original sin. I don't mean to be unkind, Scott, but if this is the best you can do, I would like to suggest you stick to fantasy where it's okay to make up the physics, and then try to improve character depth, interrelationships, and growth. Best of luck!

Change she if the story and this could be an Honor Harrington novel. The authors style is a different as is the narrator, but still.

Historia
In 1803, President Thomas Jefferson selected his personal secretary, Captain Meriwether Lewis, to lead a voyage up the Missouri River, across the forbidding Rockies, and - by way of the Snake and the Columbia rivers - down to the Pacific Ocean. Lewis and his partner, Captain William Clark, endured incredible hardships and witnessed astounding sights. With great perseverance, they worked their way into an unexplored West. When they returned two years later, they had long since been given up for dead.

Historia
Although Thomas Alva Edison was the most famous American of his time, and remains an international name today, he is mostly remembered only for the gift of universal electric light. His invention of the first practical incandescent lamp 140 years ago so dazzled the world - already reeling from his invention of the phonograph and dozens of other revolutionary devices - that it cast a shadow over his later achievements. In all, this near-deaf genius patented 1,093 inventions, not including others, such as the X-ray fluoroscope, that he left unlicensed for the benefit of medicine.

Good Story
Revisado: 08-22-22
By and large, this is a well written biography. Unfortunately, the author chose to tell it in reverse chronological order by decade. This method detracts strongly from the natural flow. Jumping through time is a device better used in a Star Trek episode than in a life history.

Once Donald Trump’s fiercest surrogate, closest confidant, and staunchest defender, Michael Cohen knows where the skeletons are buried. This is the most devastating business and political horror story of the century. As Trump’s lawyer and “fixer”, Cohen not only witnessed firsthand but was also an active participant in the inner workings of Trump’s business empire, political campaign, and presidential administration.

Revisado: 12-17-20
A good yarn... 75 percent true, 15 percent spin and 10 percent horse shit. Considering his character and motivations, here's how it works. The truth is in Trump's bad character and borderline illegal activity. The spin is in making himself look better than he has any right to. The horse shit is in the very worst stuff about both himself and Trump... Things that both he and Trump could still be prosecuted for that he can't tell the whole truth about for his own sake. Offer him a complete immunity deal (after Jan 2021) and let him show where the bodies are buried without concern for his own weasely tushy.

Historia
Woodward, the number-one international bestselling author of Fear: Trump in the White House, has uncovered the precise moment the president was warned that the Covid-19 epidemic would be the biggest national security threat to his presidency. In dramatic detail, Woodward takes readers into the Oval Office as Trump’s head pops up when he is told in January 2020 that the pandemic could reach the scale of the 1918 Spanish Flu that killed 675,000 Americans.

Historia
Only four men in American history have been promoted to the five-star rank of Admiral of the Fleet: William Leahy, Ernest King, Chester Nimitz, and William Halsey. These four men were the best and the brightest the navy produced, and together they led the U.S. Navy to victory in World War II, establishing the United States as the world's greatest fleet. In The Admirals, award-winning historian Walter R. Borneman tells their story in full detail for the first time.

Good Book, Interesting Perspective
Revisado: 09-24-19
This is a good book. Clearly this man is a patriot and an expert at his craft. He is, ironically, occasionally (correctly) critical of the perspective of others either because of their rank or politics without seeing his own flaws in those regards. Still, this is a valuable perspective on modern problems by a man who has made genuine sacrifices for our nation.
One thing I don't necessarily get... he pretty much gives Donald Trump a free pass. He's overtly critical of the Bush and Obama administrations, but mentions Trump only obliquely. My only explanation is he does not want to publicly criticize a sitting president.
If that's his reasoning, I believe he's doing his readers a disservice.
