Historia
Before Owen Michaels disappears, he smuggles a note to his beloved wife of one year: Protect her. Despite her confusion and fear, Hannah Hall knows exactly to whom the note refers—Owen’s sixteen-year-old daughter, Bailey. Bailey, who lost her mother tragically as a child. Bailey, who wants absolutely nothing to do with her new stepmother. As Hannah’s increasingly desperate calls to Owen go unanswered, as the FBI arrests Owen’s boss, as a US marshal and federal agents arrive at her Sausalito home unannounced, Hannah quickly realizes her husband isn’t who he said he was.

I enjoyed every minute of this book. The characters were very believable. From the way the main character started out in a dysfunctional family to a family who did not want her,but learned to love and accept her , just pulled it all together. A good listen.

Historia
Bryan Stevenson was a young lawyer when he founded the Equal Justice Initiative, a legal practice dedicated to defending those most desperate and in need: the poor, the wrongly condemned, and women and children trapped in the farthest reaches of our criminal justice system. One of his first cases was that of Walter McMillian, a young man who was sentenced to die for a notorious murder he insisted he didn’t commit. The case drew Bryan into a tangle of conspiracy, political machination, and legal brinksmanship—and transformed his understanding of mercy and justice forever.

Heart wrenching
Revisado: 02-25-20
I and many people I know , l am sure ,have no idea how Injust our leagal system has been over the years. Neither have we been knowledgeable of the injustice metered out to people whe did not have the means to hire competent counsel to represent them in a court of law and therefore ended up in prison ,with a death sentence or life in prison without parol, which in essence is a death sentence.
This book is a real eye opener.

Facinating
Revisado: 01-27-19
I was fascinated by the characters and their interaction. It is interesting to think how Matilda was apparently a woman born long before a time when a woman had any privelages.I was also surprised to learn that she was the first woman to ever be crowned a queen. VERY GOOD READ!

I loved the characters and the fact that they were portrayed as having both landed in different countries they remained honest honorable men. Captivating to think what might have happened under such circumstances.
