Came recommended but disappointed

This book came highly recommended by many. So I had high expectations. However, it turned out to be a disappointment since the content is mostly a repetition of standard text around self confidence and “following ones north start”. The background/ story does not make much sense and somehow I can’t fathom why someone would rate this text so highly

Relational advice for the real world

I am so grateful that I stumbled on Terence Real via a reference on one podcast. This book touches some key facets of a couples relationship and the techniques Terence mentions can be applied to almost immediate effect. Of course, mastering these things takes years but as he mentions towards the end, it’s so impactful that it’s worth even doing poorly at the start.

Interesting perspective on parenting, French style

The author traces her life journey in France as an anglophone mother while providing a often hilarious take on differences between her parenting style Vs that of her French counterparts. The book is well researched and provides a in depth view into the “why’s” behind the “how’s” of French parenting. Towards the end, there is a mention of some contradictions in style without much of an attempt at reconciliation with the earlier text. That however does not take away from the books character and it still makes for an interesting and educational read about French style of parenting.
