Historia
The girl group sound, made famous and unforgettable by acts like The Ronettes, The Shirelles, The Supremes, and The Vandellas, took over the airwaves by capturing the mixture of innocence and rebellion emblematic of America in the 1960s. But while the songs are essential to the American canon, many of the artists remain all but anonymous to most listeners. But Will You Love Me Tomorrow?: An Oral History of 60s Girl Groups tells a national coming-of-age story that gives particular insight into the experiences of the female singers and songwriters who created the movement.

The greed and ego of the artists and those involved with them
Revisado: 03-28-25
This is what I got from listening. About 10% of this book provided useful information to me. The remainder was full of drama, sickness, drug and alcohol abuse. I’m not sure anyone had redeeming qualities or made me respect them. When I started the book I had nothing but respect and admiration for the girl groups of this era only to have it taken away from me. The last half of the book was worse than ails on a blackboard. Sorry!

Historia
Charlie knows he’s not the main character in his own story. He’s just another schmuck in the Ivy League looking to be somebody. He plays in a terrible jazz band, falls in love too easily, and struggles with the human being business. Written in a wry, comedic style, A Comedy of Nobodies: A Collection of Stories traces one fall semester in the lives of four typical but unforgettable university students who, as compensation for their existential anxieties, just want to feel understood.

Meaningless babble
Revisado: 02-17-25
I finished this book but am not sure why. Every story had me looking for something that I could take with me and each time left me scratching my head. The main character had no redeeming qualities. He stole from the church, constantly let down his friends and (if it was his intention) portrayed a truly worthless individual.

Historia
Cardboard Gods is the memoir of Josh Wilker, a brilliant writer who has marked the stages of his life through the baseball cards he collected as a child. It also captures the experience of growing up obsessed with baseball cards and explores what it means to be a fan of the game. Along the way, as we get to know Josh, his family, and his friends, we also get Josh’s classic observations about the central artifacts from his life - the baseball cards themselves.

Not for a fan of baseball or baseball card collecting

If you want a book about a strangers childhood memories remotely tied to 70’s baseball cards, you may find it entertaining. If you’re looking for an informative book about baseball or baseball cards, look elsewhere.
