I was bored!
Revisado: 09-02-22
I love this series, but this story was absolutely boring. I feel like nothing happened. There was no suspense, the twists were predictable and I just felt myself getting annoyed with every single character. This felt like manufactured drama for drama’s sake.

Great story, Couldn't stop listening.
Revisado: 10-25-21
I really liked the story and narration and it was one of those books where I actually didn't figure out the ending until they basically spell it out for you. Great twists and characters.

Actually didn't guess the ending!
Revisado: 11-14-19
This book was really good! All the narrators were really spot on, I felt. The story was great, suspenseful and definitely had me guessing. I was totally shocked at the ending.

Historia
A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely 15-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from - a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

I hated this book
Revisado: 07-17-17
Honestly, I hated it. I only finished it because I wanted to know if I was right about the ending. It progressed so slowly, the narrators talked so slowly and I hated how vague everything was. I'm getting a refund.

Wish I Had Known More Before Buying
Revisado: 07-24-15
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
People who like zombie movies/books.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
I did connect with the characters.
Any additional comments?
I wish I had known that this was a zombie/apocalyptic story. It was very gruesome and morbid, I'm usually not into this kind of story. I only listened to the end because I was curious with where Melanie would end up.

Historia
It is Labor Day weekend in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and a boy and a girl collide on a dark street at two thirty in the morning; Lesh, who wears black, listens to metal, and plays MMOs; Svetlana, who embroiders her skirts, listens to Björk and Berlioz, and dungeon masters her own RPG. They should pick themselves up, continue on their way, and never talk to each other again. But they don't. This is a story of two people who do not belong in each other's lives, and who find each other at a time when they desperately need someone who doesn't belong in their lives.

First Love.
Revisado: 07-15-15
What made the experience of listening to Guy in Real Life the most enjoyable?
I like the nerd culture elements and the relatability of the characters and their first love story.
What does MacLeod Andrews and Arielle DeLisle bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I love when a book told from two perspectives use two different narrators. It brings another dimension to the story.
Any additional comments?
This book was really cute and told a first love story in a really creative way. I loved it!

Historia
Meet Zoe and Greg Milton, a married couple who have let themselves go a bit. Zoe was a stunner in her college days, but the intervening decades have added five stone, and removed most of her self-esteem. Greg's rugby-playing days are well and truly behind him, thanks to countless pints of beer and chicken curry. When Elise, a radio DJ and Zoe's best friend, tells them about a new competition, it seems like the perfect opportunity to turn their lives around.

Had A Good Laugh
Revisado: 07-15-15
Would you listen to Fat Chance again? Why?
I don't think I would. It was a funny story, but one time is enough.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Fat Chance?
The very last scene at the end of the book. And the naked treadmill.
Which character – as performed by Heather Wilds and Napoleon Ryan – was your favorite?
I found the characters to be really unlikable at the beginning. So much so that I almost didn't continue reading the book. They both ended up growing on me. I identified with Zoe more but Greg was definitely my favorite out of the two.
Any additional comments?
There is a lot of vulgar language in this book. At times, it is a bit tough to get through as I think most times that vulgarity is unnecessary. But being a British book, I do realize that it might have seemed necessary for the story. All in all, I liked the story and kind of predicted the ending.

Historia
Little else in life is as dangerous as fire jumping. Flying past towering pillars of smoke, parachuting down to the edge of an all-consuming blaze, shoveling and sawing for hours upon hours, days at a time, all to hold the line and push back against the raw power of Mother Nature. But there’s also little else as thrilling - at least to Rowan Tripp. The Missoula smoke jumpers are one of the most exclusive firefighting squads in the nation, and the job is in Rowan’s blood: her father is a legend in the field. She’s been fighting fires since her eighteenth birthday.

Great Story, But Got a Little Lost
Revisado: 07-09-15
Who was your favorite character and why?
I really liked Gull, he gave the story a little fun and made it less serious.
Have you listened to any of Rebecca Lowman’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I have listened to a few other Rebecca Lowman's performances. She is great at distinguishing voices for people. You're never confused about who is talking. I think that it holds up to her others.
Any additional comments?
The murder storylines were interesting, but I found myself getting lost during the fire scenes. They were really fast paced and there was a lot of firefighter jargon that got very confusing.

Okay story, Less than okay narrator.
Revisado: 04-21-15
Would you try another book from Lisa Scottoline and/or Maria Bello?
I do like Lisa Scottoline but I do not like Maria Bello as a narrator. She puts accents on way to many words and her narration for men is SO ANNOYING.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
No Frank. He's obnoxious.
How could the performance have been better?
Maria Bello could have not read it.

She's a TV writer, and something's come up on her show; she has to stay in Los Angeles.
