I have nothing against Barbara I just don't really like the type of music nor do I like many bio's I buy. Don't know why I was drawn to this book but it has given me a great appreciation of who she is, her brilliance, guts and her fight for her/women's rights. I feel I'm curled up on the couch drinking Comfort tea just listening to her go down that rabbit hole as I tend to do.

I didn't think I could love this man anymore than I do but this book proved my wrong. I know he is he super smart and funny but this book gave me an insight as to how he is extremely heartfelt and kind in his answers.

I don't know why I bought this book as the only thing I know about computers is that I own a 2K deck of cards! Have to say this book was fun, witty, has action and the performance is great, especially The Voice!

Honestly

I would not say I'm a country fan but since she went on the Johnny Carson show in the 70's and talked honestly about her hair and clothes, I've had great admiration for her and have enjoyed many of her songs and her variety show.
When listening to this book I thought about an early time in her career that she gained lots of weight and wondered if she was going to talk about that, and she did! I remembered when we saw her at a small venue in San Jose in the early 2000's and was shocked that the house wasn't full, and she talked about that period of her career too.
This book is a nice sprinkle of her upbringing, working with others, charity work and her thoughts.

Let down

Loved the first 2 books but this book is slow and I couldn't connect with the female narrator. My biggest irritation is the use of the word "fireman". I'm a retired female firefighter, I have more forgiveness for males using gender specific words but disappoints me when women aren't more sensitive to the difference a word can make.

Skip if you don't love silly over the top puns or silly word play. The cast and audible was very good! Nothing much for LOL but for me eye rolling and chuckles.

I'm a 65 year old white woman and I LOVED everything about this book. This is a tribute to Common's dad with a few journeys and experiences along the way, and that first record that shaped his future. Loved the music. With over 1200 audiobooks in my library I don't have enough time in the day to listen to books more than once but with 1hr and 21 mins, I will be listening to this book several more times.

Don't pick wildflowers!

I was of preteen age during Kent State, MLK and JFK's murders. As like now, my stomach was in knots, so much turmoil in the world and it was great to learn so much more about those times. When Jane takes on a project she immerses herself and studies in great detail. That is why I was so shocked to read that she picked wildflowers especially rare ones and pressed them into a book! One of the first things a wildflower lover learns is how detrimental picking wildflowers is to the species.

This was to be the last book of the series, instead it felt like Kevin's publisher was telling him "well just write anything". This book is maybe 4 hours of Oberon then the second half is a different book by a different author.
