Historia
Part memoir, part history, Burn Book is a necessary chronicle of tech’s most powerful players. This is the inside story we’ve all been waiting for about modern Silicon Valley and the biggest boom in wealth creation in the history of the world. When tech titans crowed that they would “move fast and break things,” Kara Swisher was moving faster and breaking news. While covering the explosion of the digital sector in the early 1990s, she developed a long track record of digging up and reporting the facts about this new world order.

The truthful reporting, a welcome difference
Revisado: 03-23-25
She gives a history of the beginnings of " everything goes digital". Her experienced reporting filled in my many gaps in knowledge about how how it all happened. Who were the movers and shakers from the beginning and often motivated them--beyond just gathering massive wealth.
She writes and reports maintaining her ethical rules. She is a refreshing voice.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Historia
For years, New York Times best-selling author Kirsten Powers has been center stage for many of our nation’s most searing political and cultural battles as a columnist, TV analyst, and onetime participant in the thunderdome of Twitter. On a good day, there will be civil disagreement. On a bad day, it’s all-out trench warfare - nothing but a cycle of outrage and self-righteousness. More and more, Powers finds herself wondering, along with countless Americans: How are we to cope with this nonstop madness?

A recipe for listening to those you might hate
Revisado: 11-12-21
I'm a activist, political cartoonist, a person with strong opinions who rarely hesitates about sharing them. The author had very good and reasonable reasons for me to try to improve my listening skills. If you possibly hope to change an opinion that is very different than your own this book gives you reasonable skill suggestions. It's not preachy just helpful.I don't know if I will practice these grace filled communications, but if I really want to try this book has some simple step by step recipes.

Fox ran out Governmental decisions...see how
Revisado: 09-25-20
Shocking item by item examples of how major Presidential decisions and strategies were influenced by a man's hunger for ratings and popularity. Truth be damned, a good story will always win out both financially and ratings vs that silly little thing called truth.

This is the most devastating business and political horror story of the century. As Trump’s lawyer and “fixer”, Cohen not only witnessed firsthand but was also an active participant in the inner workings of Trump’s business empire, political campaign, and presidential administration.

Cohen's memoir is far far past upsetting.
Revisado: 09-11-20
I hesitated getting this book. I knew the author had been the major fixer, enforcer & bully for Trump. I wasn't sure I could listen to his memoir without vomiting. I did listen, I learned more than I imagined possible. Cohen's intro comments were good. He said that if you don't read books by people you dislike, you couldn't ever hear and learn the horror of the REAL Donald.

Historia
Mi-ja and Young-sook, two girls living on the Korean island of Jeju, are best friends who come from very different backgrounds. When they are old enough, they begin working in the sea with their village’s all-female diving collective, led by Young-sook’s mother. As the girls take up their positions as baby divers, they know they are beginning a life of excitement and responsibility but also danger. This beautiful, thoughtful novel illuminates a world turned upside down, one where the women are in charge, engaging in dangerous, physical work, and the men take care of the children.

wrenching history of strong sea women
Revisado: 06-30-19
I learned so much of Korea's chaotic history from the late 1940s to the 1970's. This book follows several generations of a woman's sea harvesting family Korean culture. The book follows a strong strong woman battling to feed her family and teaching traditions while being blocked by irrational laws and international political influences. Again and again she persists in providing for family but it's wrenching to read of the neverending struggle.
