Beautiful
Revisado: 10-08-24
A very moving and so beautifully written & read story of a rare, yet not that uncommon kind of friendship and childhood bond. Then growing up in those beautiful days of Pahlavi regime, introducing art and foreign culture and then the challenging times of the revolution and all that came after it.. I really enjoyed and cried as I remembered those days. Thank you!

Enjoyed listening to her recount of everything so very clear and honest. Some of us knew all of this too well, but hearing it first hand from a patriotic young woman is refreshing.

Historia
Behind the tall, foreboding gates of a commune in Brazil, Daniella Mestyanek Young was raised in the religious cult The Children of God, also known as The Family, as the daughter of high-ranking members. Her great-grandmother donated land for one of The Family’s first communes in Texas. Her mother, at thirteen, was forced to marry the leader and served as his secretary for many years. Beholden to The Family’s strict rules, Daniella suffers physical, emotional, and sexual abuse—masked as godly discipline and divine love—and is forbidden from getting a traditional education.

Such a heartbreaking story and very disturbing of how far some crazy folks would go to satisfy their twisted illness and needs to destroy others! Very sickening.
