lots of fun listening for one credit. A little silly, a little repetitive but honestly, a lot of fun! highly recommend. ⁷

Historia
Five years ago Corin Cadence's brother entered the Serpent Spire - a colossal tower with ever-shifting rooms, traps, and monsters. Those who survive the spire's trials return home with an attunement: a mark granting the bearer magical powers. According to legend, those few who reach the top of the tower will be granted a boon by the spire's goddess. He never returned. Now it's Corin's turn. He's headed to the top floor, on a mission to meet the goddess.

Woke Ransome Note w/an Underlying Glimmer of Hope
Revisado: 07-31-23
Woke Pronouns are NOT compatible with audible narratives. Also, asexual angst mashed up in a Harry Potter knockoff made this title IMMINENTLY challenging to get through. The combination of hating a physically abusive father (of course) and the distant love of a completely disconnected mother, along with the seemingly forced sexually 'monotone' relationships, and the annoying pronoun usage (again... it is challenging/confusing when using woke pronouns when context switching during the narration of an audiobook).
For all it's radical LeftCoast signaling, what really kills this effort is the choppy storyline and dead end elements (along with a commensurate cadre of inept "legendary" weapons). There is some character development but not with the main character. And, when that development show up its tacit at best, only being seen in slight glimpses among the other characters.
Tragically, the underlying bedrock of this story is interesting and has potential. Because of this spark, I ground through the whole book, hoping to see light at the end of the tunnel.
Also, the narrator, God help him, does an outstanding job; his ability to nail distinct (and consistent) voices for the various characters really helps deal with the woke-pronouns that otherwise make those portions of the book difficult to adhere to.
Will the series mature and sort out its major flaws? I will flip a coin... but not until I've worked through a more worthy list of titles.

Historia
With the Builder threat behind them, the time has finally come for Jason and his team to hit the road. Eager to get back to the adventuring he’s been longing for, Jason is excited to not be at the center of world-changing events. But before he goes, one last attempt to pull him into politics has him leaving Rimaros with a strong final impression. With new places to visit and new people to meet, the remnants of recent events have scarred the land and left lingering dangers behind. It's a busy time for adventurers willing and able to fight with monsters.

great mid series roll.
Revisado: 04-28-23
It's hard to complain about this series. The humor, flow and structure are really good.
the minor complaints I have are the lack of any romantic interest development and the two hat tips to the woke "gender is whatever i want it to be" crowd. Otherwise I'm really looking forward to #10.
also, this one ran longer, which is nice.

Historia
The daughter of a Legion war hero, fighting was in Andien Broxin's blood. Until a devastating war erupts right in the Republic’s stellar backyard. Newly stationed on a mid-core planet being harassed by terrorist revolutionaries, Andien and her fellow “hullbusters” find themselves right in the middle of a desperate fight for survival.

Brain Candy? Sure. A well built interlude!
Revisado: 01-04-23
Who doesn't love a plate of fresh biscuits?
Shirtaloon has found a nice, entertaining formula.
While this wrapped up some loose ends from the last couple books, it has a strong essence of Interlude.
I look forward to the next chapter, which seems like it will be the start of another series.

Solid B-Team effort
Revisado: 11-01-22
I like this style of general ear candy. Far from perfectly polished, this epic has the underpinning of a decent series.
I was very disappointed with the lack of wrap up at the end. knowing this a B-series production, I would have given it an extra star if it ended with a better closeout.

Historia
The year is 2650. Seventy-five years ago, an alien fleet attacked Earth. Without warning. Without mercy. We were not prepared. Hundreds of millions perished. Dozens of cities burned. We nearly lost everything. Then the aliens abruptly left. We rebuilt. We armed ourselves. We swore: never again. But the aliens never came back. Until now. With overwhelming force the aliens have returned, striking deep into our territory, sending Earth into a panic.

good ole fashion space opera sci-fi.
Revisado: 06-02-22
I'd give it five stars but the truth is, that would take away from its simple, non-pc, non-woke, non-America-bashing construction. If you want to harken back to a simpler time, are not offended by well worn tropes, and just want an easy, relaxation, enjoyable little escape... this book is your gateway drug of choice.
Like a wine from the same region, this has some essence of John Ringo's Live Free or Die / Troy Rising... not in the plot or the voice but.. in the spirit.
highly recommend.
