Historia
Your wedding day is supposed to be the happiest day of your life, right? That's what they say, at least. I went into that day hoping I'd get the happiest day of my life. What I got? The worst. I mean, you really can't get any worse of a day without someone actually dying. So...I may have gotten just a little drunk, and maybe just a tad impetuous...and landed myself in a dive bar somewhere in Alaska, alone, still in my wedding dress, half wasted and heartbroken.

Great series but BEWARE!
Revisado: 07-17-22
I really love this series and I keep going back to it to check but Audible has not yet published the last 3 books in the series and it's been 5 years. Going to need to break down and get those 3 books on kindle so I can finish it up but I sure did love the audio and I'm very disappointed that those last 3 books are not available on Audible.

Not my kink
Revisado: 06-23-22
Not a big fan of female protagonists that are doormats. Occasionally I would see a spark of initiative but then she gets "punished" for it. Her backstory was being dominated and abused by her family but not seeing the hero be much different except that he was domineering and "in charge" "with love."

If you can get over the pathetic heroine
Revisado: 03-09-20
I really wanted to like these books. The concept is good. But it is so hard to get over the maturity level of the main character in this book. I honestly checked to make sure I had not gotten a young adult book. I wonder if this would not "read" better than listen. When you hear some of the things that come out of her mouth, you feel more like she is getting exactly what she deserves. There is no growth of her over the three books...even her self talk is annoying In the middle of a crisis she say "I know I am over reacting and over dramatic (ya think?). She says that in book 3. That is how she handles every crisis. It is wearing.
(Yeah I know, you caught it - I listened to all three, but they were free and you do come to care about these characters). They were made in 2013 so I want to give this author another chance. She is very well rated in her other books/series. There are good points. God bless the narrator Gabra Zackman, I know I could not make myself read the drivel the main character says and thinks out loud for an audience. If the action were increased and the dithering decreased, and a development arc for the main character, (i'm ok with a main character starting out flawed and growing) the story really would have potential.
Advice: Read the reviews for all three books before you start this series.

Disappointing
Revisado: 09-28-19
Thank goodness for Trixie and Thane. There was almost no plot and all neanderthal domination in the main storyline, Gabrielle was whiny and our hero is a thug. What is it with so many authors that started writing plots with male dom/female submissive storylines after the 50 Shade of poorly written story craze came out?
I really enjoyed this series when it started. Reminded me of the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Not so much anymore. I hope Ms. Feehan turns this around. I really thought the Dark story arc had promise.

R.J. is determined not to be drawn into Juliet's scheming plans. Painful Narration
Revisado: 12-31-18
I've been enjoying this series but this narrator is absolutely rubbish doing American accents. Her portrayal of a Boston accent made the hero painful to listen to. It was like a cross between a Kennedy and the minister that presided over wedding scene in the Princess Bride that pronounced marriage like "mawwiage."
Even the cadence of the American voices was crazy and pompous. I am going to muddle through and hope the rest of the series does not have an American character. Honestly it is so bad that I don't hold it against the narrator. The producer of the audio should have addressed this before the release.

Really?
Revisado: 08-09-18
The narrator sounded like a female William Shatner ala the original Star Trek the odd stops and starts. And is it just me or did Kate actually not ask if her brother was rescued from the kidnappers. The reveal and kidnapping rescue was revealed and resolved in the last 15 minutes of the book. Rush much?

Disappointed in the vocal performance
Revisado: 07-25-15
Is there anything you would change about this book?
The narrarator. She made Gus sound like Spanky. There was very little difference between JJ and Gus's voices. One was a kid and the other supposedly a grown man. The vocal performance made it hard to tell if the author had changed the characterization. Both Gus and Mara seemed juvenile.
Would you be willing to try another book from Christiana Miller? Why or why not?
I was really engaged with the first book. Gus was more of a counterpoint. I missed Gus's the posh accent and droll sarcasm of the first book. It was a good contrast with Mara's more free-wheeling fly by the seat personality.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Barbara Benjamin-Creel?
Marie Rose
Did Somebody Tell Aunt Tillie We're in Trouble! inspire you to do anything?
Only to slog through to the end.
Any additional comments?
I really want to give this author another try. I am hoping I was so distracted by the performance that it undermined how I perceived the story and the next one will get back on track.
