Historia
In 1942, the Gestapo sent out an urgent transmission: "She is the most dangerous of all Allied spies. We must find and destroy her." The target in their sights was Virginia Hall, a Baltimore socialite who talked her way into Special Operations Executive, the spy organization dubbed Winston Churchill's "Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare." She became the first Allied woman deployed behind enemy lines and - despite her prosthetic leg - helped to light the flame of the French Resistance, revolutionizing secret warfare as we know it.

Excellent story
Revisado: 05-27-22
Great information about a strong person working to make a difference and bring change on multiplelevels. The story is great but gets quite long at times and almost feels like it is just restating facts and opinions. Glad I listened and learned about Virginia Hall.

Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains an infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. While we all wonder how our lives might have been, what if you had the chance to go to the library and see for yourself? Would any of these other lives truly be better? In The Midnight Library, Nora Seed finds herself faced with this decision.

not for me
Revisado: 02-18-22
I had high hopes the book had lots of positive reviews. But, unfortunately it started depressing and stayed that way...I skipped to the end in hopes I could feel happy. Sorry, just not my cup of tea. I will be returning this title.

During the year 1866, ships of several nations spot a mysterious sea monster, which some suggest to be a giant narwhal. The United States government assembles an expedition in New York City to find and destroy the monster. Professor Pierre Aronnax, a French marine biologist and narrator of the story, who happens to be in New York at the time, receives a last-minute invitation to join the expedition which he accepts. Canadian whaler and master harpoonist Ned Land and Aronnax's faithful servant Conseil are also brought aboard.

Just an overview
Revisado: 01-01-21
I could feel that the author was genuine, knew and lived her subject matter. But mostly I came away with definitions and vague concepts. Some but little practical how to. I do have a better understanding of the purpose of my pets.

should help with anxiety
Revisado: 11-21-20
It is worth a listen and I believe it is well intended. A good perspective and refresher to be mindful and exercise. Also good resource List. I haven't checked them yet but I hope they are current. One area that wasn't discussed was the importance of play. I was exhausted listening to how much I would have to practice to overcome anxiety and find peace. I couldn't wait to get done with the book and color. One point that I took away is to give up eliminating anxiety. For me that could turn out to be a big step in living life more fully.

In Braving the Wilderness, Brown redefines what it means to truly belong in an age of increased polarization.

Revisado: 08-05-20
Brene's work is always good. I learned more about her story and believe she is very authentic. This was a little more difficult to connect with. I needed more how to, and feel I won't grow much from this book. But, I would recommend listening.

Historia
The relentless pursuit of high self-esteem has become a virtual religion - and a tyrannical one at that. Our ultracompetitive culture tells us we need to be constantly above average to feel good about ourselves, but there is always someone more attractive, successful, or intelligent than we are. And even when we do manage to grab hold of high self-esteem for a brief moment, we can't seem to keep it. Our sense of self-worth goes up and down like a ping-pong ball, rising and falling in lockstep with our latest success or failure.
