Historia
A childhood chant turns near deadly for Lily Locke when she's swept into The Faction's latest triumph - the overthrowing of the hidden, magical city of Wishery. When Ainsley and her team at MAGIC, Inc., beg Lily for her help, she agrees, taking on a load of problems that pile up faster than she can say abracadabra. A new revolution in black magic stumps the island's burgeoning mixologist, while a haunted house, a surprise birthday party, and rising familial troubles back on The Isle compete for her already-limited time and attention.

These books are so interesting. The characters are great. The storyline is interesting - long lost family, love interest, really cool magical powers that the main character had no clue she possesses.

Historia
Penny Roundtree wants nothing more than to be a familiar to a witch. She’s been a member of the Society of Familiars ever since she was old enough to join the Fam. There’s just a small problem—no one’s hiring. Witches and warlocks are so long-lived that there are far more familiars available than witches to train them. So when an unorthodox arrangement to apprentice under the table to a forbidden warlock presents itself, she takes it.

This series is great!
Revisado: 06-23-24
This is the second story in this series and they are great. I enjoy that the author builds the character development by including characters from the previous book. The concept of human familiars is new to me, but it makes for an interesting listen.

I enjoy these books! The character development and the way the author continues bringing in the previous characters, from other books, further builds the enjoyment of the stories. The readers did a great job too!

Mostly cute and quick stories
Revisado: 06-23-24
This was an okay cute collection of stories and if you are looking for a quick listen to pass the time these are for you. I did find it interesting that the author stopped each story, sometimes twice, to request listener reviews. Overall, again, short and sweet listens.

Historia
On Hallowe'en night, Mathilda Honeycutt finds out she's a SuperWitch. Not the modern, hippie kind...the real, wand-wielding, pixie-dust kind. After a life devoted to retail and coffee drinks, Mathilda is thrown into the secret world of witches, werewolves, vampires, faeries, you name it, it exists! As Mathilda discovers her magic, she also discovers she's prophesied to save the world. The problem is, she'd rather spend her time on online auctions bidding on fabulous designer shoes.

Getting a bad rep…Solid story, great narrator
Revisado: 06-26-23
I disagree with the negative reviews of this book. The story is well developed, though it can seem drawn out at times, but I do not regret listening and would make the choice to listen again.
The diary format is a bit difficult to follow at first, but then it does settle in to a rhythm and the dialogue flows. If you are not a fan of this style (mostly main character narrated), this may not be for you.
The character fits the story and her personality fits the age and prestige explained in this book. Someone said the main character did not develop past 14 or 15 and I disagree with this as well. She is a young woman, in her twenties who grew up with wealth and status and has clearly been made to know she is special her whole life. I had no issue with this character development and she is not a selfish character, she is clearly devoted and loyal to her friends and family.
*Absolute personal preference for this next comment. The only thing that irks me is the current buildup of a threesome (one main female who is pursuing and being pursued by two main male characters). This is causing me to debate reading this series further. If there has been more of a concrete decision toward the end about which way the main male character is leaning, my opinion would be different and I would not hesitate to continue listening to this series.
If you are on the fence, I say give it a go. It has friendships, family, a little romance (non-graphic scenes), supernatural, and some action. This book was pretty good to get engrossed in.

Part of the backstory missing?
Revisado: 05-05-23
This was a pretty good book. The narrator does a great job, but I have heard her on other things and knew I liked her style. The things that is lacking is the building of the backstory. It is clear the main character has magical powers, but you do not understand until much later in the book that pretty much everyone in the book has power too. So many stories lately lack the building of the background or the world the author is introducing you to, it’s been disappointing and I hate wasting credits or money and then not enjoying a book.

Read the reviews
Revisado: 05-02-23
I bought this on a 2 for 1 deal, the synopsis sounded intriguing. However, the storyline is slow and I’m an hour in and I am not sure what the plot line is. The characters are introduced willy-nilly and the development of the main characters is severely lacking as is their backstory. This is quite possibly just not the book for me, but the book does not pull you in and allow you to get lost in a captivating story.

This is a cute story. I do hope there is more explanation of the town in future books, it was eluded to, but I would like more detail. It’s a very interesting story line.
