Historia
It's easy for American Christians to forget how Jesus said his followers would actually live, what their new lifestyle would actually look like. They would, he said, leave behind security, money, convenience, even family for him. They would abandon everything for the gospel. They would take up their crosses daily...BUT WHO DO YOU KNOW WHO LIVES LIKE THAT? DO YOU?

Distracting Narration
Revisado: 08-29-24
The book's content is excellent, informative, and compelling, but those glowing attributes are nearly ruined by the narrator's trailing off at the ends of sentences, leaving words pronounced incompletely and, therefore, incorrectly. One glaring example is in chapter 3, where anyone not familiar with the word, "pentacost," would think it is pronounced "pentaca." And the word "us" pronounced "uh" and "cross" pronounced "cra." Nearly every word ending in any 's' sounds found at the end a sentence is mispronounced throughout the book. The author might reconsider narrating his otherwise fine books.

Historia
There are countless paths to follow when seeking spiritual guidance, but thousands of years of theology and religion cannot replace the premier example that Jesus himself set for us. In A Portrait of Jesus, best-selling writer Joseph Girzone recaptures the truth of Jesus that is presented to us in the Gospels and gives a compelling vision of the person Jesus' contemporaries must have known.

Poor narration
Revisado: 02-04-21
The book itself is great, but the volume increase and decrease of the narration made it a struggle to get through. Several times I thought to just turn it off and forget about. I'll avoid this narrator in the future.

The reader doesn't seem to care about the book or take it seriously. He has a patronizing way of reading, as if he's been made to read it but doesn't believe it.

Story, of course, is excellent. Narration, however, is distracting. The reader stresses words at odd and inappropriate times, as if there might be punctuation where there is none. Unfortunate for such a good story.
