Fantastic!
Revisado: 11-01-22
Was turned on to this book by my sons who are very much into the Warhammer universe. Picked it up and was totally blown away. Not only is the story engaging, but the narrator/voice talent is just incredible. I found myself taking the long way home just to listen to it longer.
As it was explained to me, Trollslayer was a collection of short stories compiled together so it threw me a bit as I was progressing. However, each of the short stories was engaging, roughly linked to the next and action packed. Loved this book! (Even got the wife to listen to it!)

A professor at Concordia University who has witnessed this troubling epidemic firsthand, Dr. Saad dissects a multitude of these concerning forces (corrupt thought patterns, belief systems, attitudes, etc.) that have given rise to a stifling political correctness in our society.

Fascinating book
Revisado: 11-20-20
Learned about the book during Professor Saad's interview on the Joe Rogan podcast. I found Professor Saad a fascinating personality and immediately purchased the audiobook. The world has become a frightening place. The SJW/ cancel culture movement has taken old grumps like me and slapped us hard. I think a lot of us still don't know how it happened. Prof. Saad presents a strong disagreement with the SJW/cancel culture and bravely stands against the tide of the new world thought police order. I found the book delightful and started re-listening as soon as I finished.

His ability is severely limited in terms of the types of creatures he can control and how many. Most monsters have always been beyond him. And then one day he accidentally breaks a monster girl. Doors begin to open for him faster than he thought possible.

So...This is what a Harem story is like?
Revisado: 06-19-19
I'm so disappointed I have no idea where to begin.
I wanted to like this. I'm a fan of the fantasy genre. When I read through some of the descriptions the term "Harem" was tossed around and I was unfamiliar with it in context of story. I guess I know what it is now. Three hot women and one horny guy go plodding on an adventure. Hijinks ensue.
The main character was unlikable and basically spent the book trying to bed the ladies in his company. The womenfolk were somewhat interesting but the voices the narrator used were inconsistent and off putting. Honestly, I felt more compassion for the beasts he's sort-of-but-not-really-subjugated.
I made it a little over halfway through and shut it off.

An incredible audio experience!
Revisado: 06-16-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Most certainly. It's an epic story with an incredible cast of voice talent. With sound effects, music and the cast of voices, it transcends the normal audio book experience!
What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The various and easily identified voices give the feel of listening to a radio drama.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes yes yes! However listening to for 40+ hours straight would probably not go well. Could not wait to return to it every morning!
Any additional comments?
I remember reading this shortly after it came out. I stumbled across an abridged version in audio form but felt the heart and soul just wasn't there. When I found out the unabridged was coming in full radio drama format, I had to pre-order! I woke up excited to download and listen and it hasn't disappointed me. Incredible!

Historia
He knew it was a dumb stunt from the start. A midnight run through a cemetery to impress a couple of girls isn't the stuff of legend, but Alex Carlisle longs to escape the crushing mediocrity of life after high school. Then, he stumbles upon the ritual, the cultists, and two bound and bloodied women. Alex intervenes, and the ritual blows up in his face, leaving him bound to them both: Rachel and Lorelei, an angel and a succubus.

Too much and not enough
Revisado: 03-11-16
What did you like best about Good Intentions? What did you like least?
The only good thing about Good Intentions that kept me engaged was the foul mouthed angel, Rachel. It wasn't enough. Tess Irondale's voice. Oh, man. I think she could read a dictionary and I'd find it "stimulating". What a voice!
What did I like least? The lack of story. It started out really well and I was engaged right from the beginning but once the angel and succubus were bound to Alex, the story literally tail slid into one long Penthouse forum section. I cheered for Alex when this started. It eventually degenerated into a golf clap and finally it just became boring. Kay would throw a bit of story into it to jump start my interest but it was usually a chapter too late.
I don't mind a lot of sexual content in a book but NOT at the expense of story, or the pace of the story. I dragged myself halfway into the second section (of three) and just couldn't take it anymore. What I did get from the story was engaging, but there just wasn't enough to keep me interested.
Has Good Intentions turned you off from other books in this genre?
It's a possibility. I was a big fan of the Anita Blake novels until the same thing occurred. When the story starts taking a back seat to the sexual content, then I rapidly lose interest. If I wanted sex immersion in print, I'd pick up a copy of Penthouse.
Which scene was your favorite?
Any scene where Rachel cut lose. She was, by far, my favorite character in the book.
Could you see Good Intentions being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Perhaps, on the hardcore XXX channels.
Any additional comments?
I really thought the book had potential and that I would like it. The beginning was well written and engaging and I settled in well to enjoy it. The sexual content just became too much for me to enjoy. I listen to audiobooks at work. It allows my mind to enjoy a book while I go about my mundane tasks. It was difficult to enjoy the story for as infrequent as it appeared.

An absolute treat!
Revisado: 03-11-16
What did you love best about Ready Player One?
Being able to relate to all the 80's icons used in the book. I used to be one of those kids who hung out in arcades pumping hard earned quarters in the machines mentioned in the book. *wan smile* Ah, nostalgia.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Ready Player One?
spoilers!!
What does Wil Wheaton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Honestly, I hated Wil Wheaton when he was the super whiz kid in ST:TNG. With his exposure in shows such as Big Bang Theory, I've come more to appreciate him and his voice during the narration was wonderful.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I laughed out loud several times. When Wade would play the arcade games, particularly the ones I spent TONS of money one, I felt that I was right there.
Any additional comments?
This book was a delight! I enjoyed the story and Wheaton did a wonderful job in the narration. It was a little "fluffy", but as a teen in the 80's, it gave me sooo much to relate to. My only gripe was that I felt Cline could have fleshed out the dystopian horror that the world had become a bit more. A stronger counterpoint to the paradise that being in the Oasis was. However, I loved the book and have referred it to my teenage sons who still wonder what an "old guy" like me did in the 80's.

Solid and enjoyable listen
Revisado: 04-07-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
For my friends that are into Zombie apocalypse stories, yes.
Any additional comments?
I was a little nervous buying this audiobook. Previous reviewers left me a bit concerned, but I very much enjoy zombies and stories of the apocalypse and this satisfied the craving. There is a preface to the book that the author warns the reader that the story and the behaviors written will be dark. Well, yea, it is the apocalypse. People who balk at this have a slightly overdeveloped Hollywood view. I loved it. Honestly, I don't think the story was dark enough. Just what other depths will humanity sink to when the end of the world is at hand??
I will say that the story itself was entertaining. The narrator was also solid. However, he doesn't do female voicing very well, was a bit of a disconnect and could be jarring. Started listening for the second time to make sure I didn't miss anything.
Overall, I give it a 4.
