I felt that this book pulls you and doesn't let you go until the book is over. It was a very engaging story, very vibrant both the story itself and the narration. If you like sewing and fashion this book definitely has it while taking you on a journey through the sewing world and the characters lives themselves.

Not for Me

I struggled to finish this, it's fun to learn about another culture. Though not as interesting as I was hoping. I felt it was a little repetitive and most of the advice felt like common sense in my opinion. Plus I feel like it overly glorifies Swedish culture. The message I got is everyone should live like the Swedish. I believe you can learn something from everyone and every culture, but with everything in life all things have their pros and cons.

Interesting

This is an interesting perspective on one person's view of French vs. American culture. Though on the other hand, it felt in my opinion, like the overall message of the book was 'Be more like the French' or 'The French way is better' I don't like books or messages like this. Also the author makes a lot of generalizations about Americans. I feel like that her and her family may have lived this way in the Midwest, be not everybody, everywhere in the country functions like this. For example: File Cabinets my family and I have been using them in our home since I was a kid. Also there are many different cultures in America since it's a melting pot so there in many people that bring elements of their culture into their homes and lifestyles that are completely opposite of what was described in the book. Even without speaking about different cultures, a good example of differences would be east coast vs. west coast. Getting back to the book, I also found it a bit stuffy and I couldn't wait to finish it and be done with it. Not sure if I would recommend to anyone.

Very informative and honest while being lightheard with some humor. You may not agree with everything or a lot of things in the book, but I still think it's worth a listen in my opinion. Understanding another person's perspective on something is good and helps you look at things differently.
