Too Dark
Revisado: 06-25-25
I love the humor and characters of the Longmire series and have enjoyed all the books up to this point. This one was way too dark and just really about pure evil, with an extremely protracted ending. Yes, I did finish it because I am committed to the series.
Hope the next one is better. This one was not my idea of entertainment.

Historia
Reservation "bad boy" Thomas Begay is found dead drunk under the La Plata Bridge, which is not unusual for him. What is unusual, however, is that beautiful BIA investigator Patsy Greyhorse is found lying beside him, not drunk or even a Navajo but very dead nonetheless. Charlie Yazzie, fresh from law school, risks his career and even his life to help his old friend. The answer seems to lie with the Yeenaaldiooshii...should one choose to believe in such things.

Good story & characterization. It was short but that was ok. The ending was a little abrupt but overall a really good story.

Disappointing
Revisado: 01-08-25
I love the Slough House series so decided to try this stand alone book. The story was slow to get my attention and the characters were not engaging. The humor that is part of the Slough House books is completely missing here. On the plus side, I learned about Tierney and Coe, and the narrative was great. Otherwise, really disappointed in this book.

Revisado: 01-05-25
These books about Maddie, Robo & Cole just keep getting better and better. I've read the whole series and love the fact that Robo is one of the main characters. The plot is well constructed and the characterization is, as always, excellent. The subject matter in this book was tough but the author handled it very well.

This Audible Exclusive production revisits Charles Dickens’ tragi-comic novel Little Dorrit. Written during the Crimean War, it a story of fortunes won and lost and a masterly portrayal of the failings of Victorian Society, with the ever-present spectre of law enforcement and imprisonment looming over a fearful population. Divided into two parts, Book One: Poverty and Book Two: Riches, Little Dorrit satirises the debtors prisons and the detrimental effect of enforcing a British class system.

This was another good read. I've been working my way through the series and this one was good, not great. Performance by the narrator was great. I love to hear about Bruno's recipes! There were technical issues with this recording in several spot with dead air for several minutes. Also, the ending was very abrupt.

A prolific journalist, Martin Walker has crafted a mystery series that deftly blends the stylings of Peter Mayle and Alexander McCall Smith. An enclave of environmentalists seems to be the most likely culprit, but soon Bruno uncovers evidence that makes the case infinitely more complicated.
