Historia
The same week her husband of 15 years ditches her for a guy he met on Gay.com, a partially inebriated teenage driver smacks her VW Beetle head-on. Marriage over, body bruised, life upside-down, Rhoda does what any sensible 43-year-old would do: She goes home. But hers is not just any home. It's a Mennonite home, the scene of her painfully uncool childhood and the bosom of her family.

Boring and annoying
Revisado: 08-12-23
The author comes across as spoiled and arrogant. The narrator is monotonous. The topic is fascinating, but someone else needs to write about it.

Unique, engaging, and fun!
Revisado: 12-09-18
What a great start to the series! I hope it continues for many more books to come.
I got hooked on this book after the first few minutes, and it was the narrator's voice that did it, in both meanings of the word (written voice and audio voice). I love the way the narrator is written: she's funny, self-deprecating, smart and very relatable, and I love the way the story is read.
The author, Danny Bell, did a great job creating this character and Whitton A. Frank, the narrator, made this character come to life with her narration.
After the first few pages, the story only got better. The story is a fun adventure, perfect for anyone who's ever found themselves lost in a book. I enjoyed it very much and look forward to more in the series.

What a fun adventure! I love that in this series, Alex and Katie get to change the outcome of stories. This book involves the kids in the traditional Nutcracker story, with the addition of other fun characters. I loved Aunt Karina's living miniature castle! What an amazing toy.

Exciting, engaging, and well-researched, the story of Hittite King Suppiluliumas comes to life in this incredibly well-researched novel. I admire the author's ability to include so many historically accurate details while maintaining an engaging story line. Wonderful historical fiction.
The audio version makes the story even better: the narrator's perfect pacing, engaging manner, and great voice add a new dimension to an already great story.

The evil tsar is not so evil after all
Revisado: 11-23-16
Another great story in the Alex and Katie series. I love the idea that the two kids can enter the magical world of Russian fairy-tales and change the endings of the fairy-tales by their efforts. Very empowering for the kids. I loved all the characters, but especially Leshi, the crazy forest creature. He reminds me of my goofy uncle, no offense to anyone. The narration is the best, with all the different voices!

In Grandma Witch: Adventure Four, Alex and Katie embark on a journey to rescue a little girl from the three-headed dragon. But they soon find out that the problems they're about to face are much more serious than they could have anticipated. Baba Yaga, the Russian witch, immersed the whole forest into total darkness by capturing the Guardian of Light and his horse. It's up to Alex and Katie to find the Guardian of Light and bring sunlight back into the forest.

Russian Witch is cool
Revisado: 11-23-16
I've read some Russian stories before and have always been intrigued by the Baba Yaga, Russian witch, character. This story makes Baba Yaga much less scary than the original Russian fairy-tales. I love the fact that she has a granddaughter who is a witch in training. Very cute! Wonderful narration, with different voices and voice effects for different characters.
