Historia
What if the drink you just spilled, the train you just missed, or the lottery ticket you just found was not just a random occurrence? What if it's all part of a bigger plan? What if there's no such thing as a chance encounter? What if there are people we don't know determining our destiny? And what if they are even planning the fate of the world? Enter the Coincidence Makers - Guy, Emily, and Eric - three seemingly ordinary people who work for a secret organization devoted to creating and carrying out coincidences. What the rest of the world sees as random occurrences, are, in fact, carefully orchestrated events.

Silly and unbelievable
Revisado: 05-24-18
I really wanted something with a little fantasy, and it does have fantasy, but the characters are either opaque or not believable.I couldn't understand their motivations and some of the peripheral characters were ones I have read over and over, done better in other writers' hands.(For instance: the crusty ,belicose old general)
I had a feeling if I could hang in there the ending might be a surprise, but I couldn't. Life's too short and Audible has too many really GOOD books.

Historia
For 10 years something has gnawed at Isaiah Quintabe's gut and kept him up nights, boiling with anger and thoughts of revenge. Ten years ago, when Isaiah was just a boy, his brother was killed by an unknown assailant. The search for the killer sent Isaiah plunging into despair and nearly destroyed his life. Even with a flourishing career, a new dog, and near-iconic status as a PI in his hometown, East Long Beach, he has to begin the hunt again - or lose his mind.

Great story, good writing, great narration
Revisado: 04-01-18
What made the experience of listening to Righteous the most enjoyable?
The author is dealing with many different communities and he's spot on with the language. The characters are fascinating and believable. I really loved the narrator--only one mispronunciation in two books!
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Plot was good, not terrific, but then I couldn't seem to turn it off and didn't sleep one night so I guess it was good enough
Any additional comments?
I hope the author continues with this character and provides a little more depth in the future.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Just cannot bear to listen.
Revisado: 02-25-18
Would you try another book from Brandon Sanderson and/or Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ?
No
Would you ever listen to anything by Brandon Sanderson again?
With different narrator
What didn’t you like about Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ’s performance?
Ms Reading is so bad that I absolutely could not listen to this book. And I really tried. The reviews were wonderful, but this person invades the story with her horrible voice, inept phrasing, etc. I have sometimes been able to push through rotten narration because the book alone was compelling, but not this time. I truly could not get used to it even for the sake of the story and I feel awful. It really sounded good--but in the third try I caught myself shouting at her. ( I was in the car and I embarassed myself, so I had to just give it up.)
Any additional comments?
People who work so hard to write books should not cheap out on the people they choose to narrate their audio. (Try reading Robert Parkers' Spenser novels. Ugh.)

I found the journal at work. Well, I don't know if you'd call it work, but that's where I found it. It's the lost journal of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest inventors and visionaries ever. Before he died in 1943, he kept a notebook filled with spectacular claims and outrageous plans.

This book -had- to have been narrated by its author. I’m sure I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much on paper, or read by someone else. Lucky for us, Phil Dircks’s voice, delivery and timing are every bit as good as his prose. Get this book (and all his others)!

Frank Calder - ex-soldier and sacked police hostage negotiator - is just eking out a living as a mediator when he's approached by Pat Carson, patriarch of the dynastic Carson family. Pat wants him to deliver ransom money to kidnappers who've abducted his great-granddaughter. Excellent characters, good story, very good reader
Revisado: 09-28-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I was home with painful dental stuff, and this kept my interest so well that the pills couldn't knock me out. The author has a nice tight writing style that can also manage some terrific lyric lapses on Australian life-style and geography.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Protagonist was well-drawn with a good back story that didn't go on too long.
What about David Tredinnick’s performance did you like?
Good accents, and it must have been truly challenging with all the different characters.

Historia
Big-time Boston hoodlum Julius Ventura wants to find his only daughter's missing husband—at least that's how he puts it to Spenser and Hawk, even though its pretty clear that Julius isn't telling the whole truth. Or maybe not any part of the truth. Something about the case appeals to Spenser's passion for justice, and he launches an odyssey that takes the tough-but-tender duo with their penchant for literary allusions into the netherworld of organized crime.

The best reading ever of a Spenser novel.
Revisado: 09-23-14
What made the experience of listening to Chance the most enjoyable?
I dissed Burt Reynolds for his other readings, and this one makes me sorry. The ones I heard before sounded as if he were severely medicated, but this is Burt on his game, and it makes me wish he'd do more. You know, he never was just a pretty face.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
Not a very intricate story, but for me character is what I like best about Parkers' work.
Have you listened to any of Burt Reynolds’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is the best one I've heard.

Spenser has gone to London -- and not to see the Queen. He's gone to track down a bunch of bombers who've blown away his client's wife and kids. His job is to catch them. Or kill them. His client isn't choosy. But there are nine killers to one Spenser -- long odds. Hawk helps balance the equation. The rest depends on a wild plan. Spenser will get one of the terrorists to play Judas Goat -- to lead him to others.

Really rotten reader. Couldn't finish.
Revisado: 09-23-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
I love Spenser stories. When I started listening to them on audio, I was disappointed in Manenega (I know I'm spelling his name wrong) he is an actor and he can't even do a decent British accent. Then there were the Burt Reynolds readings that sounded as if he used valium as a chaser for his daily martini. And now this guy who is, I swear, the worst of the worst. Do not bother.

If you could sum up A Catskill Eagle in three words, what would they be?
I have always wondered about Spenser's back story,so I was happy to find this story. The funny thing is I liked this guys voice, but he can't do this kind of thing.

A high-profile attorney in the middle of a leave of absence following a personal tragedy is drawn back into the legal arena amidst a media firestorm when he agrees to represent a popular rap artist accused of brutally murdering his pop star girlfriend. With its powerful voice, pause-resisting tension, and strong cast of characters, Adam Mitzner’s novels are reminiscent of such best-selling authors as Scott Turow and John Grisham.

Would you try another book from Adam Mitzner and/or Kevin T. Collins?

Has A Case of Redemption turned you off from other books in this genre?
No
Would you be willing to try another one of Kevin T. Collins’s performances?
No
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment
Any additional comments?
The narrator sounds like a teenager, and the protagonist is supposed to be a widowed lawyer. The reader doesn't sound old enough to be married much less practice law.The story sounds silly being read by this guy.
The writer often writes"smirk" when he means smile. A smirk is an especially nasty smile, and every time I heard it, it made the story come to a complete stop for me while I tried to figure out what was going on...

Needs A Good Editor
Revisado: 12-31-12
What would have made Storm Front better?
The only description of a smile this writer can use is "smirk". Every time a woman looks at him she smirks. Run-on descriptions that are to add to atmosphere, don't. Couldn't believe all the good reviews. I was took.
Has Storm Front turned you off from other books in this genre?
I don't know.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment, because I have never tried this genre before. Anger for the waste of time and money.
