This is a complete rewrite of character
Revisado: 02-20-25
This has nothing to do with the Hamish Macbeth of old. Probably one of the most uninteresting story lines with reinterpretation of characters. I would be embarrassed to recommend it and want my credit back.

Historia
With little to live on but her romantic daydreams - which frequently starred the dashing Marquess of Fleetwater - Jean Lindsay lived a rather dismal life with her nasty, drunken uncle. Jean was always the object of ridicule, that is, until news of her unexpected inheritance spread. Suddenly her worn dresses became "quaint" and her forthright manner turned magically to "charming", but to Jean's horror, someone wanted her dead!

Her only joy is dreaming of the handsome Earl of Torridon - for like her, he is trapped in a horrid marriage and longs to find true love and happiness. Though she secretly wishes for the death of her unkind husband, Matilda never could have imagined the guilt that plagues her when the illustrious duke is befittingly murdered by his own mistress!

Too much
Revisado: 04-01-23
The author clearly knows history, but the storyline was just way too fanciful and too predictable. I’m sorry to say, but the characters were just simply lame. All the twists and turns are child like … like it was made it up after having a few drinks and then had to try to tie it all together at the end.

Historia
In 1851, Olive Oatman was a 13-year-old pioneer traveling west toward Zion, with her Mormon family. Within a decade, she was a white Indian with a chin tattoo, caught between cultures. The Blue Tattoo tells the harrowing story of this forgotten heroine of frontier America. Orphaned when her family was brutally killed by Yavapai Indians, Oatman lived as a slave to her captors for a year before being traded to the Mohave, who tattooed her face and raised her as their own.

Couldn’t help himself
Revisado: 03-11-23
It was actually very interesting for 3/4 of the book, till the author started to inject personal political observations. It ruined it for me, especially at the end. Maybe he can remember that there was a history of the United States before Zinn

How to exactly an attention keeper
Revisado: 03-07-23
The reader, of course is excellent. He has been so on all of the CJ box books. This storyline was just sort of dull. It may be time to put these wonderful characters that have been developed over the years to bed.
We all get old and so does Joe Pickett and his story.

Historia
Defying both civil authorities and the Mormon establishment in Salt Lake City, the renegade leaders of these Taliban-like theocracies are zealots who answer only to God; some 40,000 people still practice polygamy in these communities. At the core of Krakauer’s book are brothers Ron and Dan Lafferty, who insist they received a commandment from God to kill a blameless woman and her baby girl. Beginning with a meticulously researched account of this appalling double murder, Krakauer constructs a bone-chilling narrative of messianic delusion, polygamy, savage violence, and unyielding faith.

I had no idea
Revisado: 01-08-23
I’ve had Mormon, neighbors and friends my whole life, and never really understood much about their religion. I knew it was different from mine, and knew it was not like being a Methodist, or a Catholic; not an ordinary sect… just nice, clean neighbors that saved a years worth of food in their garage.
This was riveting and fascinating.
