This book should have been a short story!

I listened to this book on audible and whoever did the narration did do an excellent job, but the storyline was very difficult to follow (perhaps bc I was listening vs reading, I don’t know exactly) I just didn’t really feel compelled to keep listening nor was I invested in the characters/storyline like I am with most books. I found the book to be very slow going, slightly boring until the last few chapters. I wanted to stop numerous times because as previously mentioned, the characters nor the story captivated me fully. The only saving grace of this book is the last few chapters when the author kicks it into full gear and the writing becomes more suspenseful and page turning.
I’m not quite sure how or why this book received such high accolades, I’d give it a C- at best!
