Historia
A strange plague called the "Gets" is decimating humanity on a global scale. It causes people to forget - small things at first, like where they left their keys... then the not-so-small things like how to drive, or the letters of the alphabet. Then their bodies forget how to function involuntarily - and there is no cure. But now, far below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, deep in the Marianas Trench, an heretofore unknown substance hailed as "ambrosia" has been discovered - a universal healer, from initial reports.

Nothing at all like "The Troop".
Revisado: 09-05-24
Just couldn't get pulled into the story or the characters. Psychedelic, abstract, nothing made sense to me. Listening to this book was like being inside the mind of someone on acid. I really enjoyed his novel, "The Troop" but really struggled with "The Deep". The performance however I found to be pretty good.

Historia
Before he was anointed to carry on the legacy of Robert Ludlum's Janson Command series, and before he collaborated with Clive Cussler on the fan favorite Isaac Bell series, Justin Scott created this suspenseful adventure tale, a novel of love and revenge set on the high seas. Written in 1978, this is considered by many to be one of the best maritime thrillers of all time. As an expert in the world of ships and sailing, Justin Scott creates an authentic maritime world, making The Shipkiller all the more thrilling because it could be a true story.

Good story but too much detail
Revisado: 07-11-24
The writer went into too many details that got boring as they move the story along. For example way too much detail about changing sails and about ropes and rigging which had not much to do with the plot.

Historia
It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

WORST NARRATION EVER
Revisado: 09-06-21
The stories might be ok but the deadpan narration is so bad that one would never know. The narration couldn't have been worse if it was a male version of Google assistant. Not only was it read without any dramatic effect, tone or emotion but it was as if the narrator was just rushing to get through it. I would not recommend this audio book to anyone!

Historia
Something big is coming...big enough to destroy the entire solar system...and it's heading straight for Earth. That's what Dr. Ben Rollins, head of Harvard's exoplanet research team, is told by NASA after being dragged out of bed in the middle of the night. His first instinct is to call his daughter and wife, who are vacationing in Italy: Something is coming, he tells them, a hundred times the mass of our sun. We can't see it, we don't know what it is, but it's there.

Two hours too long.
Revisado: 12-08-19
The Nomad part of the story was good but the subplot was so slow and did not seem like it was ever going to end. It just kept going on and on. Could have done with some serious editing to come to a conclusion faster.
Btw, what was the significance of the yin-yang symbol on the guy's "special" cell phone?

Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

Slow, too much dialogue, no action
Revisado: 05-11-19
Very slow-moving story. Well into the 5th chapter the story wasn't really going anywhere. Lots of dialogue between characters that didn't really move the story along or generate interest in the characters.
