Historia
King Shrewd is dead at the hands of his son Regal. As is Fitz - or so his enemies and friends believe. But with the help of his allies and his beast magic, he emerges from the grave, deeply scarred in body and soul. The kingdom also teeters toward ruin: Regal has plundered and abandoned the capital, while the rightful heir, Prince Verity, is lost to his mad quest - perhaps to death. Only Verity's return - or the heir his princess carries - can save the Six Duchies.

Historia
The wall just didn’t look right. Alex has been trying to cope. Life after his deployment had been rough. His ex-wife thought he needed to stop disappointing their daughter. She was right. He would try harder. With six hours before his little girl’s fourth birthday party, he saw the anomaly. One wall was too short. Plenty of time to tear out a panel and look behind it. He found a brick wall. His house wasn’t made of brick. Behind that was another just like the first. He still had time. When the second wall came down, Alex stood and stared at the shining doorway.

Not a fan
Revisado: 11-20-23
This book sounds like a Lit RPG book without the character sheet. Very basic. Poor dialog. No character development. I tried to like it but I couldn’t make myself finish it.

Historia
A burnout at thirty-five, months behind on his book, low on cash, and something of a loser, Eddie Spinola could use a shot in the arm. One day he randomly runs into Vernon, his ex-wife's brother, and his ex-dealer. Now employed by a shadowy pharmaceutical company, Vernon has something that might help: a new designer drug that stimulates brain function. One pill and Eddie is hooked. His book is finished within days; he learns and synthesizes information at a frightening rate; and he can go a long time without sleep or food.

I Couldn't make myself finish this book!
Revisado: 05-30-22
Wow! I like most of Maberry's work, but this is really not good. The language used is not really appropriate for a fantasy. There are a lot of references that apply to our modern world that don't really fit in the book. There are whole chapters of this book that are nothing more, and I mean nothing more, than the main character whining and feeling sorry for himself. Multiple chapters.
The term "beat a dead horse" comes to mind. I skipped through a lot of this. A lot of the authors more recent books have been overly wordy and this one is too. He really should get a better editor. I really was not engaged. I actually did not care if the main character was successful because he was so unlikable. Ray Porter is great. He did some really good voices. Normally like him a lot. He just is not good at angry, self righteous rants. He did not do them well when he did Maberry's Joe Ledger books and this performance was no better. He is great but he can't quite pull of the indignant rant.
I see a lot of people saying that this is a great book. I really do not get it. I could not make myself listen to this whole book. I got about halfway through it hoping it would get better. It did not.
Maybe my standards are too high. If you want good fantasy I highly recommend Joe Abercrombie, Brandon Sanderson, Michael J. Sullivan, Patrick Rothfuss, Duncan M. Hamilton and Mark Lawrence.

Historia
On opening day of the new baseball season a small model-kit airplane flies down from the stands and buzzes the mound, where a decorated veteran pilot is about to throw out the first ball. The toy plane is the exact replica of the one flown by the war hero. Everyone laughs, thinking it's a prank or a publicity stunt. Until it explodes, killing dozens. Seconds later a swarm of killer drones descend upon the picnicked crowd, each one carrying a powerful bomb. All across the country artificial intelligence drive systems in cars, commuter trains and even fighter planes go out of control.

Historia
In the world of Warbreaker, each person is born endowed with the power of one Breath―which can be sold and collected by others, then used to Awaken objects and even corpses to do their bidding. A few individuals who die in glory return as gods, with the power of thousands of Breath, but no memory of their mortal lives―and are enthroned in the Court of Gods in Hallandren’s capital. To Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris, the abuse of Breath and the claim of the Returned to be gods are repugnant blasphemy.

Typical Zombie Book
Revisado: 10-22-19
It's ok. It is like most Zombie books. The characters go from competent to total idiot and back again. There is a scene where one of the main characters has decided that they are going to go kick some a**. Ten minutes later they are crying, "I'm so sorry!" as she kills zombies and runs for her life. From kick a** to whimpering mess within 5 minutes. Not because she is scared, but because she "feels bad" for killing the zombies who she new as people. I found myself yelling at the characters, "You f***ing idiot. So yeah, typical zombie book.

Another excellent story by Duncan Hamilton.
Revisado: 03-01-18
This is the second trilogy by Hamilton that I have had the opportunity to listen to and both were outstanding. I am looking forward to whatever Duncan Hamilton brings us next. His books are very well written with excellent character development that really makes you like the good guys and hate the bad guys. Simon Vance really brought this book to life. He did not read it, he performed it. Bravo. Bring us more Mr. Hamilton, sooner rather than later please.
