Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

and the narration was perfectly fit to the story. Although so much of the story was sad it was also heartwarming and something that will stay with me for a long time.

Historia
Homicidal is the story of the almost 25-year serial-murder crime spree of Lonnie Franklin Jr., who is alleged to have killed at least 10 women in Los Angeles, if not more. Nicknamed by the media the Grim Sleeper, because there appeared to be a 13-year lull in the killings, Franklin met most of the women through random encounters that ended in murder. Significant blunders by the Los Angeles Police Department helped Franklin avoid arrest for years.

Couldn’t keep my attention
Revisado: 08-16-20
I’m not sure is it was the monotone narration or the lack of flow to the story, but I couldn’t wait for it to end. Sorry.

Historia
This live performance of a powerful police procedural comes to life through the artistry of Celeste Lecesne and is accompanied by the original music of Duncan Sheik. Celeste portrays every character in a small Jersey Shore town as they unravel the story of Leonard Pelkey, a tenaciously optimistic and flamboyant 14-year-old boy who has gone missing. A luminous force of nature whose magic is only truly felt once he is gone, Leonard becomes an unexpected inspiration as the town’s citizens question how they live, who they love, and what they leave behind.

Wonderful
Revisado: 06-12-20
I loved listening to this story from beginning to end. The writer/narrator was perfection in all of his voices and inflections. Listening to New York accents always makes me smile! It was a sad, thought provoking and important story however it was presented in a way that was an absolute listening pleasure.

Good story, poor narration
Revisado: 05-30-20
The story kept me more and more interested as it developed. I’m looking forward to the sequel. That said, I thought I would be able to get used to the stilted robot speech of the narrator but I never could. It was just too distracting.
If the sequel is read by the same narrator I’ll buy it in book or kindle form.

Historia
Best-selling author Bryan Burrough recently made a shocking discovery: The small town of Temple, Texas, where he had grown up, had harbored a dark secret. One of his high school classmates, Danny Corwin, was a vicious serial killer. In this chilling tale, Burrough raises important questions of whether serial killers can be recognized before they kill or rehabilitated after they do. It is also a story of Texas politics and power that led the good citizens of the town of Temple to enable a demon who was their worst nightmare.

Decent story
Revisado: 04-12-19
The story was okay for how short it was. I had never heard of this killer before.
I had a little problem with the narrator though. He was a bit too peppy for this story. It was like listening to Kasey Kasem. Not the best fit.

Interesting story
Revisado: 07-19-18
I liked the book overall and the twists at the end were a surprise I hadn’t guessed at.
I was not happy with the narration however, it was too ‘whispery dramatic’ throughout, no matter if the drama was necessary at that point.
This is one book I would have to enjoyed more if I had read the printed version.

One of my favorites
Revisado: 06-01-17
I've listened to this book 3 times over the years as it's one of my favorites. The reader is superb - he takes a wonderful story and makes it even better.
The story is quite tragic, very sad, but most of the characters bounce back and take their bad fortune in stride maintaining a sense of optimism for the future.
The story ends up very sweet, I believe because I become so attached to the characters.

Great story telling!
Revisado: 09-15-15
It's nice when a true story is written like a novel. The pace was excellent, lots of detail but presented in an interesting way. When I first heard about this story on the news years ago, I thought, "it's not possible". Now I see it IS possible and actually happened. The reader was very good too!
