I loved the variety of writing styles tailored to each story. Very creative, imaginative and fresh, yet deeply relatable on a human level. Listened to it all in one day.

The story and the narrator were great and I loved the overall message. Each character, even the side characters had unexpected depth and were treated with empathy. No one was a total villain or overly annoying. To anyone who ever felt they had to change and sacrifice themselves in order to live up to a partner’s expectations, this book will remind you otherwise. It will make you laugh and cry (if you’re a softy like me). In the end, you will finish the book wishing you could spend more time with the characters.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it’s refreshing twist on some classic tropes of the romance genre. There’s a mystery to solve, a villain you love to hate, a delightful cast of side characters and a protagonist who is kind, funny, smart and fiercely independent. It is a joy to be along for the ride and root for Laurie. Rather than limit the concept of romance as only for marriage and kids, this story widens the scope to include more possibilities of what happy and healthy relationships could look like. As a woman in her thirties who isn’t sure if I want marriage or kids, but certainly want fulfilling romantic relationships, I felt seen. Thank you Linda Holmes!
