Historia
Fyodor Dostoyevsky is a titanic figure among the world's great authors, and The Brothers Karamazov is often hailed as his finest novel. A masterpiece on many levels, it transcends the boundaries of a gripping murder mystery to become a moving account of the battle between love and hate, faith and despair, compassion and cruelty, good and evil.

A Spiritual and Philosophical Tour-de-Force
- De Rich en 02-27-16
the greatest novel of all time
Revisado: 01-29-23
I can't think of another work of fiction which so completely grabbed hold of my attention and refused to let go. It's a truly brilliant story which, when you finally force yourself to put it down, will leave you wondering what's happening next, how this event could have happened, how so and so could be so stupid, or selfish, etc... If you haven't read this book, this is your sign to do so. You won't regret it.
The Brothers Karamazov is more than a work of fiction, it's filled with deep insights into human nature, complex critiques of society and mankind, and life lessons which will surely impact the thoughtful reader....
The narration is good, the narrator's choice of tone and character is consistent, to where you consistently know who is talking based on inflection - a difficult thing to do with so many characters.

Historia
This commentary on the Lord's prayer has been compiled from a series of broadcasts made by Father Alexander Schmemann on Radio Liberty to listeners in the Soviet Union. Because this single short prayer of Christ has everything that needs to be said about God, his kingdom, this life, and all of us, it is not an exaggeration to suggest that in this commentary, Father Schmemann provides us with a map for seeing anew the purpose and measure of our whole life.

Beauty in Simplicity
Revisado: 01-26-23
First of all, this is a short listen - just over an hour which makes it very digestible. The narration is well done, which is helpful Father Schmemann breaks down the Lord's Prayer article by article with a simple, yet rich, explanation of each article, what it means in both a larger theological context, as well as a more personal context which the reader will surely recall upon reciting the Lord's prayer ( I know I will). I enjoyed it, it is more intimate than, say, St. Macarius of Corinths "Seven mysteries of the Lord's Prayer," but not so much as to leave one wanting for a better grasp of the biblical concepts expressed in the prayer. I'd recommend it for any Christian, and even non -Christians who are just interested in learning more about the one prayer virtually everyone in Western society knows by heart.

Historia
The Age of Paradise is the first of a projected four-volume history of Christendom, a civilization with a supporting culture that gave rise to what we now call the West. At a time of renewed interest in the future of Western culture, author John Strickland—an Orthodox scholar, professor, and priest—offers a vision rooted in the deep past of the first millennium. At the heart of his story is the early Church’s “culture of paradise”, an experience of the world in which the kingdom of heaven was tangible and familiar.

a full history of western civilization
Revisado: 01-23-23
I've been pretty curious about this book for some time and was excited to finally have a chance to go through it. the narrative is ending, informative, and the author does a good job of laying or a more complete picture of the events, personalities, and culture of an important area is history which far too many people are quick to dismiss, or they claim there was some "blackout" and we know nothing of the period. John shows that to be false, and why the events of that age matters. my only gripe is the recording itself; quality is good overall, but there are quite a few pronunciation errors.

Historia
Both astonishing and prophetic, The Abolition of Man remains one of C. S. Lewis's most controversial works. Lewis sets out to persuade his audience of the ongoing importance and relevance of universal objective values, such as courage and honor, and the foundational necessity of natural law. He also makes a cogent case that a retreat from these pillars of our educational system, even if in the name of "scientism", would be catastrophic. National Review lists it as number seven on their "100 Best Nonfiction Books of the 20th Century".

A critique of Scientism, the spirit of the age
Revisado: 01-06-23
Lewis speaks almost prophetically of the spirit of this age, the cancer which infects the modern West. Here, in simple yet profound language Lewis addresses the numerous fallacies of modern Western thinking and the religion of scientism, a child a Nietzsche's nihilistic philosophy. The audio quality is well done and the reader's tone is without serious inflection, allowing the emotional response of the reader to come from within, rather than from without.

Historia
Invariably, armies are accused of preparing to fight the previous war. In Learning to Eat Soup with a Knife, Lieutenant Colonel John A. Nagl—a veteran of both Operation Desert Storm and the conflict in Iraq—considers the now crucial question of how armies adapt to changing circumstances during the course of conflicts for which they are initially unprepared.

An essential read for US military officers
Revisado: 01-05-23
John Nagl highlights the reasons why the British overcame insurgents in Malaya, and why the US couldn't do the same in Vietnam. honestly, it recalled many of the frustrations I felt in Afghanistan as a student of history and warfare. if we are to avoid another Vietnam or Afghanistan it's going to take humility, ingenuity, and painful cultural changes in où military -and political - culture. This book highlights that incredibly well and leaves the reader with a number of things to think about. well done.

Historia
This audiobook has been made for three purposes. First, to provide the Orthodox listener with a competent overview of the history of Protestantism and its major traditions, from its beginnings in the 16th century to the present day. Second, to acquaint Orthodox and non-Orthodox listeners with a narrative of the historical relations between the Orthodox East and the Protestant West. Finally, to provide a summary of Orthodox theological opinion on the tenets of Protestantism.

well place, concise, definitive
Revisado: 12-17-22
what more can I say than what is in the title? Fr. Josiah lays out the history and doctrines of the Protestantism from the reformers to the modern day (the best one can considering the variance in their teachings) and offers a concise and definitive critique of their errors. Highly recommend it.
