Historia
At the dawn of the nineteenth century, two very different magicians emerge to change England's history. In the year 1806, with the Napoleonic Wars raging on land and sea, most people believe magic to be long dead in England—until the reclusive Mr Norrell reveals his powers, and becomes a celebrity overnight. Soon, another practicing magician comes forth: the young, handsome, and daring Jonathan Strange. He becomes Norrell's student, and they join forces in the war against France. But Strange is increasingly drawn to the wildest, most perilous forms of magic.

Literally the best audiobook ever
Revisado: 03-05-25
Richard should get an award for narrating this audiobook! I want to cry knowing that there isn't a second book.

From the fate of John the Baptist to Jesus’ profound teaching on inexhaustible forgiveness, in this fourth installment of The Chosen series, we grieve with Jesus’ followers at an unspeakable loss, traverse with them “the extra mile,” face down the Pharisees, and witness an impossible miracle. As religious leaders conspire to put an end to His ministry, His renown, and His very life, Jesus' followers wonder at His ominous parables and pronouncements.

Simon Vance was better
Revisado: 07-01-24
The books are always wonderful but the new narrator's pronunciation of certain word and character name was very distracting. Particularly Ramah's name pronounced differently from how it's said on the TV series is jarring.

Historia
In the days before the Civil War, there lived in New Orleans the gens de couleur libre - copper-skinned half-castes, liberated by their "owners," but confined by their color to a life of political non-existence and social subordination. Here is a compelling and richly textured tale of a people forever caught in the shadows between black and white.

Abridging this wonderful book was an awful idea and made everything confusing. I wish I could get my money back.

Historia
On the evening of November 24, 1971, D. B. Cooper hijacked Flight 305—Portland to Seattle—with a fake bomb, collected a ransom of $200,000, and then parachuted from the rear of the plane, disappearing into the night...and into history. Fifty years later, Agent Pendergast takes on a bizarre and gruesome case: in the ghost-haunted city of Savannah, Georgia, bodies are found with no blood left in their veins—sowing panic and reviving whispered tales of the infamous Savannah Vampire.

poor narration for such awesome book
Revisado: 08-26-21
the constant undulation of volume of the narrator's voice emphasize characters is grating on the nerves takes away from the enjoyment of the book. it's toooo loud and then so quiet that you cannot even hear the main character.

Historia
After an overhaul of leadership at the FBI's New York field office, A. X. L. Pendergast is abruptly forced to accept an unthinkable condition of continued employment: the famously rogue agent must now work with a partner. Pendergast and his new teammate, junior agent Coldmoon, are assigned to Miami Beach, where a rash of killings by a bloodthirsty psychopath are distinguished by a confounding M.O.: cutting out the hearts of his victims and leaving them - along with cryptic handwritten letters - at local gravestones, unconnected save in one bizarre way.

I forgotten how good this book was.
Revisado: 01-11-19
I adore the Pendergast series. I'm re-start the series and re-reading it before starting Verses of the Dead. My only issue is the audio of David's voice sometimes drops low where I miss what he saying and have to go back several times to catched what he said. This issue doesn't come up as much with Rene's voice in the future audios. The movie just didn't do the book justice of course. I absolutely do not understand why people don't always like this beginning book.

One of the best books I've ever read.
Revisado: 06-07-17
Neil Gaiman never disappoints. The narrating cast was superb. The only part I didn't don't care for was the bit about Jesus added at the end but that is to be expected because He is my God.
