Historia
In the near future, a civil servant is offered the salary of her dreams and is, shortly afterward, told what project she’ll be working on. A recently established government ministry is gathering “expats” from across history to establish whether time travel is feasible—for the body, but also for the fabric of space-time.

Can I leave a review of a review? If so, five stars, definitely one of the most thoughtful and well-written reviews I’ve read. I was considering giving up on this book, but inspired to finish it now.

Not Up to the Quality of the Series
Revisado: 08-25-21
This book was just silly and the narration even sillier. I have enjoyed the series up until this book and even enjoyed this narrator, but this book seemed shallow and pointless and the narrator was overly dramatic and emphasized every word in a manner that was unrelated to the substance of the words. Previously I have enjoyed the story lines and the author's insights on life and nature very much. Fortunately, I started this series in the middle, so I will go back and read some of the earlier ones now.

Historia
Mike Wingate, abandoned by his father at four and raised in foster care, is finally living the life he always dreamed of - he's happily married with a precocious 8-year-old daughter, and his construction company is about to finish a "green" housing development that will secure a solid future for them all. But then something from his own past, a past he doesn't even remember, comes back to visit terror upon him and his family.

Finished It, Didn't Love It
Revisado: 10-04-17
It was okay. The story kept me interested, but the emoting over family loyalty was tiresome. And the narrator had this world-weary tone that he applied to every scene. He did the character of Shep well, though. I didn't stop listentng, though I thought about it a few times. Good commute book.

Good Series But Where is Her Editor?
Revisado: 04-03-17
Would you try another book from Camilla Läckberg and/or Simon Vance?
Yes, I enjoy the story lines and the characters. This is my fourth book.
What about Simon Vance’s performance did you like?
It took me a while to adjust to the change in narrator and maybe it took him a while to get into character and find his pace, but I think he is pretty good now.
Any additional comments?
The editor should have done a little more to advise on the writing. I think the author used the term "he threw out his hands" about 2 dozen times throughout the book. In past books, the phrase "so palpable you could almost reach out and touch it" was repeated to the point of distraction. Otherwise, the author does have nice skill with language and imagery and culling out these artifacts of phrase are the job of the editor.
