Historia
Ever wonder what you would say or do if you didn’t give a f--k? Adam Carolla can tell you. In his sixth book, the comedian, podcaster, and provocateur does what he does best—doles out advice and opinions with utter disregard for our politically correct, self-righteous, virtue signaling, woke times.

Brilliant
Revisado: 08-09-22
I haven’t been aware of his longevity, but found Adam due to working with Dennis Prager and him being on Tucker. The format is fresh, uncomplicated and completely in keeping with his messaging. I’ll probably go back and check out his prior work. Sure is refreshing in this horrible chapter of our country’s history!!

Historia
Pearl Harbor, Hawaii was a world away from John Luckadoo’s hometown of Chattanooga, Tennessee. But when the Japanese attacked the American naval base on December 7, 1941, he didn’t hesitate to join the military. Trained as a pilot with the United States Air Force, Second Lieutenant Luckadoo was assigned to the 100th Bomb Group stationed in Thorpe Abbotts, England. Between June and October 1943, he flew B-17 Flying Fortresses over France and Germany on bombing runs devised to destroy the Nazi war machine.

Probably the best I’ve read
Revisado: 06-12-22
Like you, I’ve read plenty of biographical war stories. This one really got me. Maybe the brute honesty of Lucky which had a ton of emotional ups and downs. Great storytelling, great accomplishments and some very real confrontations with the Air Force.
The piece that puts it over the top is the 30 minutes of interview the author does with Lucky, who dug deep for these recollections in his early 90’s, much of which was recounted for the first time.
First rate book.

Historia
In the dark winter of 1917, as World War I was deadlocked, Britain knew that Europe could be saved only if the United States joined the war. But President Wilson remained unshakable in his neutrality. Then, with a single stroke, the tool to propel America into the war came into a quiet British office. One of countless messages intercepted by the crack team of British decoders, the Zimmermann telegram was a top-secret message from Berlin inviting Mexico to join Japan in an invasion of the United States.

This book has waaaaay too much detail
Revisado: 03-29-20
This piece of history is very interesting and not well known, however should have been told in 3 hours. The reader came across as pendantic, and made it a difficult listen. Not a favorite of mine.

Historia
History for busy people. The American Civil War was fought between the Confederates and the Union from 1861 to 1865. This is a concise history of this tumultuous period. The American Civil War started when eleven southern ‘slave’ states declared their independence from the United States of America. Abraham Lincoln’s Republican government were strongly against slavery and fought to abolish it and keep the country united.

An American Civil War story performed by a Brit who mispronounces classic American history. Lacked substance as well.

Historia
Two Depression-battered nations confronted destiny in 1932, going to the polls in their own way to anoint new leaders, to rescue their people from starvation and hopelessness. America would elect a Congress and a president - ebullient aristocrat Franklin Roosevelt or tarnished "Wonder Boy" Herbert Hoover. Decadent, divided Weimar Germany faced two rounds of bloody Reichstag elections and two presidential contests - doddering reactionary Paul von Hindenburg against rising radical hate-monger Adolf Hitler.

What a waste of time
Revisado: 07-06-19
I expected insight as to how these two perceived each other. Nothing. This is simply how each man came to power. 8 hours of German politics in 1932? Thanks but I don’t have any interest in details that don’t correspond with anything of merit. If you’re a detailed historian about stuff that doesn’t matter, okay, but this book was sold as a comparative piece. There is no such comparison.

Revisado: 11-29-18
I waited 2 weeks to review this because I’m trying to be more lovey dovey, and in touch with my inner accepting of what I consider moronic behavior.
It’s a super over educated libtard talking about making the world a better place.
I particularly lost it when he was explaining how he gathered white and black students of the university of Virginia together to discuss what to do to enhance relations and promote diversity, or some drivel like that. I felt that he should have been talking to the people who didn’t get into school, although their scores and grades were better, because they weren’t a sought after race. This stuff drives me nuts!
All in? A libs view of how life should be simpler. Ugh.

Historia
Here at last is a history of England that is designed to entertain as well as inform and that will delight the armchair traveler, the tourist, or just about anyone interested in history. No people have engendered quite so much acclaim or earned so much censure as the English: extolled as the Athenians of modern times, yet hammered for their self-satisfaction and hypocrisy. But their history has been a spectacular one.

Interesting!
Revisado: 11-28-18
I had moderate expectations which were exceeded, so that’s a plus. I really like the brevity of all the years up to the 1600s, but at the end, he went over each and every king and queen. A bit much.
But, for a quick snapshot of how these poor people went from greatest to only good, it’s inciteful . And you really understand why they’re so full of themselves!!
God save the Queen and God help the Brits. Glad they’re fighting back on Brexit!!!

Here is the astonishing, never-before-told story of the greatest rescue mission of World War II: when the OSS set out to recover more than 500 airmen trapped behind enemy lines. During a bombing campaign, hundreds of American airmen were shot down in Nazi-occupied Yugoslavia. Local Serbian villagers risked their own lives to give refuge to the soldiers, and for months the airmen lived in hiding, waiting for rescue.

One of the few which deserve more than 5 stars. Great performance, and a story which was 100% new to me, a somewhat student of WW II! Great insight to a fascinating part of the war and part of the world which has not received much attention from writers. It’s a must listen!

While knowing a bit about what the conclusion of the Munich agreement was, this historical based story gives you great insight to the players and their personal thoughts. Well researched and well read and told. A real winner!!!
