Very few people know that Mark Twain wrote a major work on Joan of Arc. Still fewer know that he considered it not only his most important, but also his best work. He spent 12 years in research and many months in France doing archival work, and then made several attempts until he felt he finally had the story he wanted to tell.

First of all, the story of Joan of Arc, is one for everyone to understand and appreciate. I felt that I had hit the jackpot when I discovered that Mark Twain had authored this masterpiece. To be honest, other than some sampling’s of his writing style, I had never read or listened to a complete work of Mark Twain’s. What a magical author he was. My next download will most definitely be another one of his masterpieces.
